.... for lunch after having visited the castle and enjoyed the scenic views!

The food was innovative and well tasting with a twist.

Good destination for a day trip

If visiting the chateau during the morning, it may make sense to stop at its osteria for a leisurely lunch. The osteria is in a quiet, bucolic setting, making for a relaxed meal. The menu is varied enough, with typical Tuscan fare and decent wine offerings. (Recommendation: stop at the chateau's winery first, for your complimentary glass of Brolio wine. I chose the Chianti Classico 2013 Riserva, which was well balanced, just tannic enough, and overall a tasty start to the afternoon.)

Can't complain about the food. My duck (main course) was tender and served medium rare, with a delicate sauce of red berries, accompanied by ... some red berries! Price/quality ratio was about right. The only criticism is the service got a bit slow, about halfway through the meal. Once a large party was seated, the wait staff seemed almost exclusively focused on those guests, leaving the other tables to watch, as three or four waiters scurried about trying to deal with a table for 11, for what seemed like at least 20 minutes. All in all though, this was a good lunch, in a relaxed and beautiful outdoor environment, and the kitchen clearly knows hwo to prepare very good meals.

This place is terrible. Don’t bother. First of all, the service staff seems irritated that you’re even there, and god forbid you ask them for something! The food isn’t good and if you are so unfortunate as to order the tripe-beware. You will never again eat tripe. Also the duck -the worst I have ever tasted ! The prices aren’t too bad but with the food you are getting , they are! So, do yourself a favor. Visit the castle which is lovely— go somewhere else to eat—ANY other trattoria would be better. I can’t demonstrate how terrible our experience was.

We went to The Osteria after the Sunset Tour of the Castle. Perhaps I am biased based upon the entire experience, but even with a fixed menu after the tour, we loved the flavor of each of our four courses. The pasta (pictured) was amazing. It was such a simple preparation but the unique flavor had us wishing for more. The beef was to die for - perfectly seared and cooked/seasoned well.

I can see how in some other reviews that the portions could bear some criticism.....but I am honestly surprised by the criticism of the food. We loved every bite!

Lovely venue and grounds, however we all left hungry. Portions are small and frankly, underwhelming in flavour. Two of us ordered the duck and it was overcooked. The bean soup was whipped and cold. Very little value to be had here.
