The title says it all... he who eats on the beaten path must realize the cuisine will not last. This restaurant is off the beaten path. It’s only frequented by Italians, and for good reason. To call if “formidable,” is an understatement. Between the friendliness of the staff and the incomprehensible deliciousness of the food; I would venture to say it’s worth a dedicated visit. Take the bus from Sorrento to Amalfi (or vice versus) and get off at the Coli San Pietro. Inside you will be greeted by Miguel or the owner himself (Sam). Dishes are traditional and done is pure Sorrentino style with pesce (fish) galore. Perhaps the most well known and sought after dish is the linguine in foil. It literally comes in foil, and once opened, the smells of intoxicatingly great seafood waft through the air. Langostines, calamari, prawns, mussels and clams compile a delicacy on top of a perfectly cooked noodle. The wine selection is beyond fantastic as well; and make sure to try the zucchini flowers and arancini for an appetizer. The veggies are actually homegrown and the bread freshly made in house. A true delight and worth a dedicated visit.

Zio Sam was so good, we went 3 times during our stay in Positano. Spectacular view from the outdoor patio. The family run business was exceptional. They even picked us up at our villa when we called. All staff and family made us feel at home. The food was simply outstanding, from the appetizers to the mains. The home made pasta was cooked to perfection. Fresh seafood, pizza...etc. A gem off the beaten path, referred to us by a local.

Exploring the local restaurants in this beautiful area and Zio Sam is just down the road from our villa. Firstly if you take your car expect to be challenged by some older guy who seems like he's house is at the end of the car park so he resents people rocking up and parking without his direction. He can get very animated! The restaurant has great views and is authentic with lots of staff. We were welcomed but service when we visited was sparadic however our poor use of Italian probably didn't help.a good range of dishes and all similar to other places in this area. The pizzas are good but they have some great cuts of steak and veal which I wished I'd gone for. In the end I opted for a shrimp and zucchini pasta was ok, not great but ok. Overall ok but other places have the edge we thought.

We had the privilege of eating at this wonderful restaurant with spectacular views, and the most delicious food I have ever had. However, it was not the views, nor the food that I will remember most...in this picture, is Zio Sam, the owner of this wonderful restaurant. Zio Sam grows all the vegetables on the property used in all of his amazing dishes. When you walk into his restaurant, you are treated like family. The warmth and kindness that this family gives I will never forget. Thank you, Zio Sam, Pasquale, and the rest of the family for showing us a true Italian Welcome. ❤️

We were taken here by our guide that knows the family and it was spectacular. They laughed and joked with us and even got me into the kitchen to help make the Gnocchi for lunch. They have a sort of buffet if you want where it’s just like you have set up at home with great meats and fish etc with of course beautiful Dancing juice. This isn’t a tourist spot but an absolute Gem to find, thanks for a wonderful day, Steve & Janis.
