Le Rocher, in Cotignac, Provence, France is a "cave house" located on the cliff face overlooking the ancient town of Cotignac. The balcony views are exceptional. We stayed for a week and enjoyed the town markets, shops and restaurants. The owner Lucas is very friendly and keeps the place very clean. The house, being partly in the cliff face is very unique. There are plenty of steep steps so you need to be mobile. 5 minutes walking on the path under old Roman arches and buildings takes you to the centre of the town, which includes an excellent patisserie. Parking is at the bottom of one of the access paths. The gardens are also beautiful. This place is a gem. It has all amenities for 3 people including provincial kitchen and dining.
The house is a 'maison troglodyte' built into the side of a cliff amongst ancient cave dwellings overlooking the beautiful medieval town of Cotignac. Host Lucas offers a clean and well presented house with all amenities you will need for a week or more. The town centre is a 2 minute walk to shops, cafes, patisserie and restaurants. This house certainly lived up to our expectations. Very quiet location and the view across the town to the mountains is spectacular. Meals on the balcony are a treat. Awoke every morning by the birds and the bells.
