Very nice hotel, beautiful white sand beach, nice food, jetty resto was outside at the sea.. lousy service (safety box didnt work, i asked the staff to help, said i'd be leaving in 30mins, thry didnt come till i left - i put a do not disturb sign, but then the staff left a note inside my room that they have come, but still safety box not fixed!!).. minibar locked while i was suppose to have all free, tried to call but no one picked up)

Dear Guest,
First of all, thank you for posting your comments on Tripadvisor.
We are really glad to see that you really enjoyed our beach, our food and our facilities, and we will investigate what happended because we cannot locked any minibar (they are always open), and also when a guest leave the DND sign on we cannot go into the room, that is the reason why they left a note, but we will check deeply.
If you are planning to come back to Zanzibar it will be a pleasure to welcome yo back with us.
Best Regards,

Everything is wonderfull. Meals, beverages, service and the facilities. You feel like isolated from the rush in your life. Buildings of hotel located on a large terratory. Huge gardens are around the buildings. People around want to make you feel comfortable and happy. Everbody asks how you feel and what you want. Rooms are clean and big enough. There are many oppurtunities to eat. 5 different restaurants. Private beach Gabi is good alternative for lunch. You can have lunch and watch the ocean. Thanks for Melia team.

What a awesome resort. Best Wifi I have ever experienced at such a resort. Very strong in rooms all open areas and even beach area! Coldest aircon I have felt which is great in those temperatures. Food was amazing and loved the themed events in the evenings. Wide variety of drinks on all inclusive package. Not just local wines / spirits. Staff very friendly and efficient. Rooms beautiful and VERY spacious! Can't go wrong here. Only slight negative I can mention is that the 'swimbeach' not right in front of resort but facilities great at the beach area.

The hotel and its location and staff are excellent. We opted for the all inclusive option as there is nothing outside the hotel to eat or drink.. to our dissatisfaction the food and drink offered with the all inclusive program was not up to 5 star hotel. We soon realised that to have a proper sea food and a dissent wine or beer we are being charged separately..
I know this review might raise protests by many Northern Europeans who like to drink and eat all day quantities and make noise, but we were here for the peace&quality.
Next time we visit will take breakfast only ( there is no other place to have one) and eat and drink ala carte so at least we can choose our meals and drinks.
Apart from the food issue Meliá is a wonderful place as Zanzibar is it self,
People are very friendly and pleasant, we will come again.

This review was written in good faith and its purpose was to inform others and help to improve things.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for taking the time to write your comments in TripAdvisor.
We are delighted to know that you loved our location and our team members exceed your expectations. But we are sorry to know that our food and beverage options included on our All-inclusive package did not exceed your expectations. Our all-inclusive package is based in all the different nationalities that come to our hotel to relax, and for those guests who are looking for something more, we offer our Premium All inclusive package. So next time you come to visit us, we will recommend you also think about that option.
We hope to welcome you soon in Melia Zanzibar,

My new wife and I spent 10 nights at Melia as the second part of our honeymoon. We came from Vuyani lodge in South Africa which was fantastic. Melia only made our honeymoon even better and created the perfect balance coming from a busy 5 day safari. So relaxed and everything catered for.

The scenery is breathtaking and the weather was perfect. Very hot at 32-35 degrees most days with a slight coastal breeze.

Our room:
We booked a garden room with partial sea view. It wasn't partial, we could see the whole ocean! The room was amazing, so big, very clean, a private outdoor shower long enough to run up and down. Fresh sheets and towels every day, romantic towel and flower sculptures every day, all inclusive minibar filled every day. Not like any other hotel I've stayed in, very modern. Our room was one of the cheaper selections so I can only imagine the standard becomes even higher.

Food and entertainment:
We upgraded to All inclusive on arrival and were given a very good rate. Normally $65pp per night but it was reduced to $50 which is the original rate if you book in advance. The guest experience manager was very kind to us as we hadn't realised we would have to pay more if we didn't book in advance. This was just one occasion the staff and management made the experience feel like excellent value.
The complex has 5 different ways to dine. At all different times of day. Too much to go through them all, but they are all amazing and have choices to cater for everyone. We particularly loved the themed nights which run on a 7 day cycle. The BBQ theme at GABI beach is an experience of a life time and the other themes such as Swahili, Indian Arabic are all amazing too. Every theme night is accompanied by its own entertainment. There was not one we didn't enjoy. Acrobatic men, Maasi Warriors, reggae band and trio bands. They were all great in their own way.

The hotel:
Very large complex with beautiful gardens, private luxury jetty for hotel guests only. 1 large infinity pool with bar just to the side. 1 private pool with breathtaking views that you can use if you go to the spa or gym.
Private beach (GABI) 5 mins away, which there is a shuttle every 10-15 mins.

Spa:
5 star luxury! We did a couples package that lasted 2.5 hours. We both felt great after it. Slightly pricey but still worth every penny. The girls there are fantastic, polite and humbled to have you come to the spa.

The staff:
The best for last. The staff are just incredible. No request is any problem at all for them and that goes from top to bottom. Alajandro (guest experience manager) was an absolute delight. He organised a special intimate honeymoon breakfast and another intimate 5 course dinner especially for us to celebrate our new marriage. He made an effort to speak to us every so often and see if we were enjoying our stay and if there was anything he could do to make it better. He also offered his help to me when I was feeling really unwell one evening (mild sun stroke).
The waiters in all places were amazing Abdallah on the Jetty, Maroa in the Aqua restaurant, Godfrey, Hosea, Anna, xEliza and Adam at the poolside bar were all fantastic and nothing was ever a problem for them and we never didn't have a drink whilst sunbathing. There are so many staff here and they all did a wonderful job at looking after us. We never did see the cleaners as they were like ninjas, but our room was impeccable every time we returned to it. Also the Air conditioning engineer who came out late at night to reset our unit was so friendly and helpful. The hotel also has a watsapp group for anything you might require and it is done in minutes. I cannot say enough about the service.

Truly fantastic experience, all inclusive was great value, hotel and surroundings were beautiful. 10/10 5 stars! Thank you to all Melia staff for creating such a memorable start to our marriage that we will cherish for ever.
