Picturesque Island getaway! Very nice to stay away from the Denarau crowd. Beautiful views, great weather. Private. Recently updated. Much better prices than Denarau. Large rooms, outdoor patio deck overlooking the water.

Great location and bure clean & modern. The only thing with the bure is that its joined with another and we had a noisy family of four, can hear everything, The staff are very friendly but the service for meals were very slow and it was always cold also the smorgasbord for breakfast. When paying top money for food, you expect quality to be better and more choices.

Room Tip: Beach front away from main facilities

Great location and modern rooms. The generally the service was either very slow or non-existent. Beware there is a room service charge on top of the food charge and the food will most likely be cold when it arrives. The pool dirty and cloudy and ran out of towels, which were also very old and in need or replacing. The towels in our room were frayed and in need of replacing. The bar had no rum to make cocktails, and didn’t really seem to want to make them anyway. The staff tried to be friendly, lost of "bula", but this came of as forced and they didn't seem to really care or see that customers were looking for help or service. Our ocean view room was set back behind the ones with the ocean view and at nigh the staff could be heard taking loudly and swearing. Over all you expect more from a Hilton.

Room Tip: Good for family stay but expect the kids to get cranky waiting for dinner service.

Dear jem0jam,

Thank you for your review and please accept my apologies for the level of service you experienced during your stay.

We were disappointed to read of the many concerns raised, as we strive to provide a consistent level of Hilton service on a daily basis. Your comments have assisted with these efforts.

I have not read a bad review about this resort, but my impression was that it was not worth the money we paid, and I am not sure I would agree it is 4.5 star quality. There was supposedly a multi-million dollar renovation done only last year, however I couldn't see much evidence of that.

There were positives - the staff are very friendly, the pool area is nice, and the Bure we stayed in was well appointed. The beach is ordinary, although we were warned not to expect white sand and clear waters. However the most disappointing aspects of the trip were the food, and the prices. There is very little variety of food, and the seafood was beyond ordinary. The fruit was bland and vegetables were few and far between (fries served with everything). The barbecued corn cobs sounded good, but had no taste whatsoever. We did attend the Sunday BBQ at Sunset Point and that was nice and good value. That said, if you are staying for any length of time, you will quickly tire of the resort cuisine.

The price of food and activities was also way over the top. I think they just work out what something would cost in Australia and NZ (where most of the guests seem to come from) and then add some onto that price. Activities in particular are very expensive, so if you dream of lining up at the spa for a regular massage, prepare to burn plenty of cash! In fact just to eat three meals a day, prepare to burn cash, even if breakfast is included.

Our stay was nice enough, but I don't think this resort is value for money, and I doubt we will return.

Dear businesstraveller621,

Thank you taking the time to post this review and apologies that you felt your stay was generally not value for money. We appreciate your recognition of our Team's friendliness along with Pool and Bure set-up.

Before launching our new menu's in August, we conducted price point and variety checks with Resort's of similar standard and found our offerings to be very competitive with items ranging from NZ$12 for an Avocado and Prawn salad to NZ$43 for a Beef fillet. Your comments relating to food taste has been shared with our Cuisine team as an added focus area.

With regards to Spa offerings, our massages range from NZ$20 for a 30 minute massage to the popular 90 minute Hot Stone massage for NZD$150.

Thank you again for your comments.

Island regards

If you are reading this, then you obviously read reviews to decide whether to visit a particular facility. We read the reviews too but after staying at Doubletree Resort in Fiji, our experience was nothing but amazing aside from one cold lunch. Taxi from airport was $45 (prices ranged from $25 to $45 chatting to other guests) and we were greeted with a big Bula from the moment we got out of our taxi on the jetty to all the resort staff we met around the resort. They were all very friendly and accommodating. We had a hotel room overlooking beachfront and were treated with sunny views each morning and stunning sunsets each evening. Magical!! Our room overlooked the Beachfront Restaurant where at night we could listen to the entertainment on our balcony or leave it behind the soundproof doors if we chose. Cooked breakfast was included with plenty of choice and freshly cooked omelette or poached eggs were delivered quickly to our table before we had finished cooking the toast. The pool area and swim up bar was perfect to Lounge beside each day. Reserve your spot on your way to breakfast and you are setup for the day!! Recommend sunset BBQ on Sunday (make sure you have the sitting during sunset) and the Romantic Dinner. Both were outstanding and highlights of our trip. We went to Denarau one night (recommend Lulus) taxi was $45 each way ( had to negotiate rate to come home but paid same rate as we went there or have hotel taxi pick you up again) and also picked up sushi for lunch next day. Wednesday seafood Live Station was a three fish selections with potatoes and rice. It was more than filling and most enjoyable. Try the Corn Pieces for lunch - it was very yummy and well priced. Aside from a toasted sandwich being cold and sometimes bacon at breakfast, all meals were served hot. There was no experience of Fiji time at all. Our beach view hotel room was fit for purpose and included a bath. It was quiet at night despite being close to the restaurant. Hotel rooms are close to the facilities while bures are on the other side of the hotel blocks. We used a bure to shower in prior to leaving for the airport on the day of our departure and agreed the hotel room was better suited for us during our five night stay. The resort itself was very quiet despite being over 80% full and there were mostly NZ/Australia guests who became friends during our stay. Pool volleyball was great fun especially with the Wellington Brickies and our bumper pad men!! We were sad to leave this wonderful gem but have wonderful memories of a special place in paradise to which we will return to escape for that perfect relaxing holiday in the sun. Vinaka Doubletree.

Room Tip: Hotel room for proximity and a bath!!

Bula vinaka 531mjk,

Many thanks for posting this review, we were all pleased to read that overall, you had a great, relaxing stay.

Our Food and Beverage team in particular, enjoyed your food comments - aside from the cold toasted sandwich and bacon, apologies that we didn't get this right.

We appreciate you sharing your experiences and look forward to welcoming you both back.
