We absolutely loved our villa at Las Casitas Village from the second we entered our unit. We splurged a bit to have a unit on the ocean and were so glad we did. The view was amazing, the walk to our unit was tranquil and quaint with a cobblestone path and lovely pastel buildings flanking either side. At night the frogs chirped in the trees and the trees were wrapped in twinkly lights. It was just beautiful.

The infinity pool and restaurants on property were wonderful, too, and service at the pool was slow but well worth it. It was very relaxing.

The only downside for us is that there is no beach, and the only beach accessible can only be reached by a ferry that takes about an hour door to door to get to. Palomino island, which also serves El Conquistador, is the only beach available. To get there you have to walk (or call the shuttle) to El Conquistador, completely cross the hotel property, walk through the lobby, down an elevator, down a funicular to the marina, and then wait in line for the ferry, which runs every hour if I remember, and take the 30 minute ride over to the island. The island is nice, but there is a lot of debris (rocks, coral, seaweed, palm fronds) in the water so bring water shoes. Not great snorkeling because there is a bit of a gentle current, but it's enough to stir up the sandy bottom so visibility is pretty murky. There is a restaurant on the island and they will serve you at your lounge, so that's nice. The food was decent. There are a few hikes (but it's hot in the summer, so bring water!) on the island, and it's not a bad beach overall. We didn't think it would be a pain to get to and from, but it really wound up being annoying for us. We only went twice in the 5 days we were there - we spend the rest of the time at the infinity pool overlooking the bay.

One other negative is that Las Casitas is the sister property to El Conquistador. The plus to this is that there are a few restaurants there and they are within walking distance, which is convenient. The negative is that this hotel reminds me of being in Las Vegas. It's loud, busy, too many people, and huge. The pool is completely packed (you have pool privileges there - we didn't use them) with lots of screaming kids. Don't get me wrong, we have 3 kids ourselves, but even they were put off by the zany environment at the El Conquistador pool - granted they are teens, so that's probably why.

Would stay at Las Casitas again in a heartbeat. It's lovely, lovely, lovely! And there are great restaurants close by, too, which is another bonus. A bit of a drive from San Juan, and not great with regards to beaches (even nearby on that end of the island), but still a beautiful resort.

The service from the Resort staff was exceptional. Whatever we needed the staff was very willing and able to accommodate our needs! The room was clean. The view we had overlooked the infinity pool. You could see the ocean, Palamino Island, and El Yunque rain forest.
I was not impressed with the restaurants and cafes at the hotel. They were a bit pricey for regular food. Bartenders at the hotel bar were not too friendly. However the staff at the villages recommended great places to eat!
I could have stayed at the resort and not left to go sightseeing! The grounds were well maintained. It is beautiful! I would and am planning to go back to Las Casitas. I booked through Southwest vacations. Great vacation for the price!

Room tip: All units have a great view either of the ocean or the gardens.

There is not enough I can say here to convey how much we enjoy staying here. This is our second visit staying at Las Casitas. The villas are spacious and well equipped. Our ocean view balcony gave us spectacular views of the ocean. We love going to the marina and taking the ferry to Palomino Island for horseback riding, kayaking or just laying in the sand. The snorkeling was fantastic. If there was one downside, we wish there was more food varieties at the resort. Many of the restaurants either have overlapping menus or you can overpay for some good (not great) food. Nonetheless we will return. We love it here!

Room tip: You'll pay for it, but staying in ocean view villas are the best!

Palomino island was great. Staff was very polite and diligent. Coqui water park was also a good activity for the family and kids. There is a magic show by Reynold Alexander that was the best nightly activity. Specially for families.

Traveled July 25-30, 2016

The home at Las Casitas with 2 bedrooms/3 full bathrooms, 3 balconies and a full kitchen, was plenty of space for our family of 5 (3 teenagers). Unbeknownst to us, the week we traveled was a PR holiday week and the resort was almost at full capacity; which was shocking to us because it never felt crowded! The staff was attentive, the resort was very clean, the resort food was good (be prepared to pay restaurant pricing), Palomino Island is amazing and we never waited more than a couple of minutes for transportation around the resort.

We rented a car, which I HIGHLY recommend doing. It is very easy to drive around here, just be extra attentive to other drivers. A 10 minute drive from the resort is a grocery store and a Wal-mart where we stalked our kitchen with breakfast and lunch items. To give you an idea, the buffet breakfast at the resort cost us $150/day and we don't eat enough to justify paying that for breakfast! Also making our own breakfast allowed us to be on OUR schedule AND our lovely housekeepers did our dishes for us! THANKS AGAIN! As for lunches, we would prepare sandwiches, fresh fruit and snacks to take with us in our small collapsible cooler (HIGHLY recommend bringing with you) to take with us when we went to El Yunque Rainforest and Palomino Island for the day (we supplemented with the islands food and drinks as needed).

Palomino has everything you could want from a beach. Plenty of space to lounge, hike and a lot of water activities (for a fee). While snorkeling just off shore, we saw fish, crab and rays that were really neat.

The only "negative" comment I can add is if you need to work, the internet is borderline at best and often much too slow and very frustrating. Using a hot spot with AT&T was the best option.

The weather was perfectly warm 24/7 and the humidity was just enough to make your skin feel amazing without feeling suffocated.

Overall this was a very nice and relaxing trip and the first time ALL the children really enjoyed their vacation.
