Lovely place, even during a rainy stretch

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 5 Jan 2025
We loved it,, even though we hit a rainy spell. The grounds are open and airy, the thatched cottages (each with two guest units) are more than adequate, with functioning air conditioning and plenty of hot water, and windows for natural light. The bar and restaurant serve limited menus of drinks, nachos, burgers and steaks, and not everything on the menu is available, but prices are reasonable. The biggest plus is the friendly staff, who will go out of their way for any request, whether it's an extra bed, a phone call, getting taxi real quick, etc. The only amenity we missed was drinking water in the room.

I have spent 3 nights total at Paraiso and loved it! Got picked up at the airport, easy check in and staff very friendly and helpful. The little hut where I stayed was very spacious, clean and comfortable, plus hot shower and great working AC. Wifi works most of the time. The restaurant serves delicious seafood!

We had a great time here. Stayed August 2024
We had booked one family room and one regular room which meant that the we would be separated by a small distance. The hotel was nice and moved a bed into an adjacent room so we could all be in one of the building (cabana).
The rooms were clean and the food at the restaurant is excellent.
There are 3 shipwrecks off the beach at the hotel, nice for snorkeling.
The only complaint from my wife and daughters was that the toilet paper was not the greatest.

Everything was very nice and great. The only thing I did not like was the bed was too hard for my liking other than that. It was a very nice trip. The staff was very nice and pleasant. The restaurant had good food and the bar had cold beer. I would probably return in the future.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Everything was very convenient as the beach is literally across the street. There is a bar overlooking the beach. The only night that we ate there the food was really good. Would go again!!!!!!

Room tip: Bring a cooler for ice and your drinks. Bring lots of small dollar and Cordoba bills. Bring mosquito spray. Only able to buy ice from local.

We stayed at Paraiso Beach Hotel for a total of 4 nights in Feb/24 in both the family rooms, and the 2-person rooms The rooms are very comfortable. Hot water, and air conditioning....ahhh The little "huts" you see in the pictures are duplexes with two of the 2-person rooms side-by-side. The family rooms are also comfortable, and have 4 family rooms side-by-side in a building. The family room would be tight with four adults + luggage. One of the beds we came across during our stay we found a little hard, but a request of a different mattress cover fixed that. The rates are better if you book directly on their website. The gals in the office are fantastic. Shout out to Angie. The staff in the restaurant were a little quiet, and difficult to get to know. We found all of the food in the restaurant really good, and reasonably priced (compared to Arenas). The free breakfast was welcomed. During my initial research I thought the resort was a bit of a walk to the beach but that is not the case. You can see the water from the resort. Beach loungers are readily available, and the rolling waves on that side of the island are fun to swim in. There is a nice breeze on that side of the island. Big beach towels can be signed out at the office, and we were told they will cost $10 if they are not returned. We were able to store our luggage in the office while we took a 2-night trip to Little Corn and returned to Paraiso. The only downside of the resort is that they "contract" with a fellow by the name of Frank for golf cart, scooter rental, and fishing excursions. Unfortunately he is not dependable at all, and I would try to avoid any business dealings with him. Big Corn was our favourite island between the two. Unfortunately we did not find stellar snorkelling on either island. Taxi 0009 was our go-to-guy for taxi rides. Great guy by the name of Marlin. Call him on whatsapp 8639-6776, and tell him the "Fab Four" recommended him. He set-up a fishing trip for you too. The taxi we flagged at the airport charged us for luggage, so confirm first! Avoid Pepe! We visited Arenas once for lunch, and the floating bar. If you are looking for an AI, pricier, more commercialized feel, then Arenas would probably be better suited to you, but know that it is very still on that side of the island, with no breeze whatsoever. Paraiso has more of a small family-oriented vibe. We would return to Paraiso.
