“Great location, unique feel, good food”
Reviewed 1 June 2011

Our family spent close to 3 weeks on Big Corn Island. We've blogged about the experience in three separate posts. The first post is at:

We loved Seva's. We started most mornings by getting a taxi here and having breakfast. The breakfast is typical Corn Island. Nothing great. They serve Tang (like they do at most places) when you ask for orange juice. The food was pretty typical for Corn Island though. Nothing to get too excited about.

The atmosphere and location make this place well worth it. We were traveling with an 18 month old and it was a great and relaxing place to be with him. Service was slow--also typical of the island but remember everything is made to order. Staff was very friendly.

Every morning after breakfast we'd walk across the street and go swimming in the Caribbean. It was awesome. Some of the best snorkeling on the island is done right here.

Overall, we loved it.

“Okay but not as good as the recommendations”
Reviewed 19 January 2010

Everyone seems to recommend Seva's -- but although it was good, it wasn't great. Hubby had the lobster which we thought was overcooked. I had the house special which was lobster, shrimp and chicken is a sauce. The seafood was fine but the sauce was just plain odd. Tomato (maybe ketchup) based in not what I would put on seafood. Service was slow but we had expected that based on everything we had heard about everything being cooked to order. Very plain establishment but it does have a wonderful view of the ocean is you eat outside.

The locals highly recommend this place. The food was poor, atmosphere was poor, service was nice - but that was it.

We had read a post in the forum about not eating at Seva's because someone got violently ill eating there. We decided to give Seva's a chance since it came highly recommended in both of our guidebooks, and the five people we asked for recommendations all mentioned it first. It is in a lovely setting, but the food was average to not that good. Unfortunately we have nothing else on the island to compare Seva's to, but the lobster we had on LCI was much better. I had the Lobster w/ tomato sauce, and fed most of it to the starving dog outside. The tomato sauce was not very good and even scraping it off - the lobster did not taste quite right. One friend had the special, which was lobster, shrimp, and chicken in a stew. He enjoyed it, except his lobster was starting to go bad, so he fed his lobster to the dog. My other two friends had grilled lobster (little overcooked) and fish in garlic sauce, which they enjoyed well enough.

This was our last stop (1/31/09), so we were accustomed to long waits for meals by this time. It took at least half an hour to order drinks though, as it seemed they had one server and one cook working on a busy Saturday night. When it came time to pay, we had been getting a C$20 to $1 conversion the entire trip, but she insisted on a C$19 to $1 conversion with us. I considered the $4 difference to be her tip and left it at that. I would not recommend this restaurant.

“Best Restaurant on the Island”
Reviewed 8 January 2009

This has to be the best restaurant on Corn Island. The seafood served here is absolutely delicious.

The lobster soup is very good if you love light broth soup with loads of vegetables and chunks of lobster meat.

Lobster meals here are very good too, about $11/meal. We especially loved the lobster cooked in garlic which comes with rice and tostones ~ YUM!

Food is good but the wait is long (but it's worth it). On average we waited about an hour before the meal arrives so order before you get hungry!

The staff here don't speak much English, so if you are a fussy eater make sure you speak Spanish but they are all every nice.
