Wow. Well, at least it was clean.
Freak weather suddenly hit Phonsavan, and the room turned into an ice box! With loads of gaps in the walls and the cold air gushing through the CLOSED windows, there was no-one to ask for a spare blanket. Too cold to sleep.
No hot water. No wifi in the rooms. Rubbish location. No breakfast.

We booked the Ber 5 due to the rating by a previous reviewer. We found the Ber 5 down a side street off the main road though Phonsavan, a long way from the "action".
The receptionist was not very helpful. She showed us our room. No air-con (which we knew) but the fan wasn't a ceiling fan it was on the wall. We were concerned that we wouldn't be cool enough in there. The whole hotel and the room in particular is grubby.
The bed was hard and the blanket smelled. We moved on to a much better hotel. We offered this room to our driver as he had to find somewhere to stay. He accepted.
