The staff at the reception were very nice and the breakfast okay, The room was on the small side and the AC not great. Overall I would say that the problem is that this hotel is not good value for money. For this price bracket we stayed in much nicer places elsewhere in Laos.

Room Tip: Views are better on the higher floors. (alough the nicer rooms are lower.)

This hotel looks lovely in any web site and also the photos I took, but really is very run down.
The hotel location is very good, right in the center but not too noise around the bars. The restaurant located in a beautiful spot of the place. Rooms look out to river, beautiful view. The staff is nice and breakfast is okey. All this offer is very nice for us.
But.... The rooms full of ants, the bathroom was so dirty, wifi was poor (always cut out). Anything I try to use in room was broken or not have.....
For the price I pay in Laos, this place is really overprice.
I think I can be back for the view and Vang Vieng, if there is some upgrade and better management.
Vang Vieng is a very beautiful place and this is a lovely hotel with lovely location, hope can be better for my next visit.

Room Tip: River view high floor.... Beautiful!!!

For anyone looking to be a bit away from the guesthouses and bars where all the young people are getting drunk, the Elephant Crossing is in a great spot just down the road along the river from the center of town and most of the commotion. The views form the upper floors is spectacular and a great vista to look at in the mornings.

The rooms are getting a fair bit worn, and apparently the management is renovating them a few at a time during the low season, so hopefully the place will soon return to a fresh updated state.

The staff was very friendly and helpful both in the hotel and the restaurant. The restaurant terrace overlooking the river was a great place for breakfast or dinner. The food was about average although that may be different in the high season.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the 3rd or 4th floor if you want the great views.

The problem with Vang Vieng is the whole place is a bit of a backpacking touristy hole. So, compared to that, the Elephant Crossing is ok. But, compared to the other accommodation we had in Laos, it's really very expensive and not that great.

The restaurant food is really not that nice (compare to the rest of Laos, where even the street food is pretty good). The air con didn't work very well and leaked all over the floor. There was mould in the bathrooms. There wasn't a mosquito net (and it's next to a river!). We had massive cockroaches (although we were moved rooms, into a room with better air con). It's a bit basic and tired looking but it served its purpose, and if it was half the price I think we would be much happier, it's just we expected a bit more.

It has set itself up as an up-market hotel in Vang Vieng (and seems to be getting quite a bit of business on the back of this) but is no where near the quality of other hotels in Laos and double what we paid for much nicer places in Vientiane.

The scenery is pretty though, when it's not cloudy.

Apparently there is some much nicer accommodation in huts across the water. Try there. Or, even better, don't bother with Vang Vieng at all - use the journey from Luang Prebang to Vientiane to visit the better waterfalls up the road (can't remember their names) or do the Plain of Jars instead.

Location is the best part of the hotel. Away from noisy bars and drunk Europeans, plus beautiful view from room and restaurant. Great patio for breakfast and dining. Rooms were dated and in need of some repair, no banket provided, there was a scratchy throw on the bed, but it provided no comfort or warmth. Internet didn't work in room, so my hope of sitting on the balcony and catching up on email could not happen, so the upgraded room was a waste. Loads and loads of ants at the breakfast buffet. This does not bother me too much, but it might be a problem for some. Felt like there were not too many choices of hotels in this price range in Vang Vieng...so probably as well as we could do for the money spent.

Room Tip: Try to get a room facing the river!
