Not all that Eco, but a good place nontheless. A good distance away from the three ring circus that's Vang Vieng, though easily reachable by tuktuk.
There's 2 parts, actually: a campsite with small bunaglows around it, and a small hotel-like setup next to the restaurant, and overlooking the river. We stayed in a triple room in the hotel, which was ok for a family of four. Quite basic but clean, and a good river view.
The staff is very friendly and helpfull, restaurant is good (which is just as well, since it's the only one in the neighbourhood).
Riverside is a public area though, so expect some activity during the day, such as kayakking trips setting off, people coming to do their laundry, washing of motorcycles and vans, etcetera
(Don't worry, it's actually nice to sit on your balcony and watch as village-life is taking place in front of you).
Recommended!

I had an army of ants show up in my bungalow in the bathroom, so I went and told the guy at reception who had already downed a dozen beers. It was very late & I was tired, so I helped myself to a key for another room & moved everything across with no offer of help from him. The ants then started invading that bathroom too. Their can of fly spray thank God was full, however it seemed to attract them in order to kill them, so I moved everything back into my original room. 2 hours wasted... Now almost 1am... Grrr

These facilities feature 10 bungalows on a spacious property, all of which have seen better times. However, the location is quiet, located on the shores of the Song River, out of town about 7 km and the food is good. Breakfast is included. Well suited for the lower budget camper-minded traveler.

The EcoLodge is situated in one of the most stunning areas areas you can imagine. The clear greenish water flows just behind the bungalows on the hill and to the rear of the restaurant. You will see local Lao people fishing there, drinking, and doing some occasional laundry in the river. The area is quiet, and built for relaxation with the adorable cottages in a circle around a picturesque field of grass perfect for laying down and reading or tossing a ball around. Anything you want to do can be arranged by Ms. Nuan who is lovely and not trying to take you for a ride like a lot of the folks in town are. She did everything from cooking to arranging transportation and bicycles. Beer Laos and baguettes are stocked daily. Thoroughly enjoyed the stay at EcoLodge and VV because of it.

We had a pretty awful experience here in that it didn't seem to be open. The "restaurant" only had 2/3 things a night and no beverages at all..no water, beer, soda, etc. When we booked we were promised free transport to and from town, which didn't happen. So when we wanted to go somewhere we had to mime "call taxi" and paid an additional $100k a day in taxis. I guess this place is nice when it's open, but I wouldn't waste your money otherwise.
