Thanks for the warm welcome. It was one of our best stay. We had a relaxing weekend. Since our arrival until our departure everything was perfect.
Food was excellent.
A special thought to pradeep for his warm welcome and the cocktail... So delicious.
Cheers also to Sandy the receptionist.
Thanks to Alice the duty manager, we had a scary evening with a sick child. Fortunately the team reacted promptly and was as always very professional. The doctor came in the middle of the night with the medication required. It reassured us a lot.
We will definitely come back.

Good morning Veronique,

Thank you for sharing with TripAdvisor readers your latest experience at SO Mauritius.

We are really glad to read that your stay with us was perfect, the welcome warm and that you had a relaxing week-end with us even though you had a scary evening on Friday due to the health of your son. We were relieved to see that he was feeling better on Saturday and Sunday.

We will share your review with the whole team and we look forward to your next visit.

Kind Regards,
Christine Bilquez, Deputy Manager

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the luxury and elegant design of this hotel. The Spa run by Jess provided us excellent full body massages (by Annabelle and Hanshinee) and outdoor heated bath / mini-pool was a lovely surprise.
The rooms are excellent and we used both the outdoor bath and outdoor shower. Bed was magnificent. As usual the (upmarket) Mauritius hotel staff were most friendly.
Kayaking together in a clear bottom kayak was a highlight.

We visited so Sofitel on 8th September to celebrate a birthday. Stayed overnight. Compared to other beach resorts in Mauritius this one was a very bad choice.
1) no variety of food for the buffet.
2) food was not refined
3) a monkey was stealing our food on the table while having supper - no hygiene
4) the monkey made a mess on the backside of our room. I couldn’t let my toddler roam outside freely
5) there is no light on the pathway to reach our room. And we encountered some obstacles on the way which could be disastrous
6) it was difficult to take my baby’s trolley to the room due to large round shape slabs placed on corals. - not child friendly.
8) there was a lizard in our room. Normally in all resorts this matter is taken very seriously
7) the dark blue swimming pool was dull

Will definitely not visit the hotel again.

To the end of August '18 I had the opportunity to spend a few days together with two friends at the Sofitel So Mauritius... a truly unforgettable experience. As soon as you enter the blooming properties of the hotel, contemporary stress and noise is far behind and you relax instantly. The cool welcome drink accompanied by a refreshing towel intensify the feeling of sheer relief from everyday life.
Friendly and obligingly reception staff made the check in procedure swift, easy and agreeable and we were afterwards escorted to our room were the luggage was already waiting for us (generally, the efficiency of infrastructure at this hotel is awesome!)
Our room was very spacious. The massive king size bed was of a remarkable quality and even the extra bed we needed was not at all in deficit in terms of comfort and size (unlike many other hotels). A nice feature was the interactive TV and the Bose Wave sound system (just a pity that the charging port was only compatible with the old IPhone plug... maybe an update to lightening would make sense here). The wonderful clean and clever architecture of the whole property continues in the guest room. A high and vaulted ceiling provided a very nice feeling of space and excellent acoustics. A highlight of the guest room is definitely the bathroom. A huge en suite basin with two faucets makes the morning routine worth the experience. If the wish for privacy in the bathroom occurs, an electric blind separates the bathing area from the bedroom. The only downside is that the fabric and colour of the blind does not fully fit into and contribute to the guest room design (just my opinion though). The amenities in the bathroom are excellent, of a nice smell and texture and some necessities are stored in a nice little box next to the sink. Especially cool of course is the outdoor shower and tub.
A safe, coffee machine, shoe utensils and the minibar made the room perfect.

Another outstanding feature of the hotel were the culinarily temples.
The breakfast buffet was of a very good quality and a broad selection of food and beverages made it very varied. I particularly enjoyed the exotic fruit and the freshly made eggs, waffles and crêpes. The only thing I missed was a mozzarella and smoked salmon, apart from that I fond everything I could wish to have for breakfast. Especially cute were the little Asian tea pots, by the way.
The dinner buffet surprised me with an excellent and daily changing variety of both national and international specialities that I really enjoyed... small and very clever made starters, salad, soups, a massive selection of entrees with an excellent quality of meat and fish and, most importantly, amazing desserts such as cakes, ice cream, mousse etc etc
If you are seeking for a good drink in good company with good music, the bar next to the main restaurant is the place! I had a mojo to there which was of an excellent quality. (Digital menu... very innovative!)
The restaurant La Plage is also worth a visit. It offers a small yet tempting variety of land and sea dishes alongside with delicious pizzas.
I made very good experiences with all of the food venues, though the evening buffet was the one that impressed me the most. The only thing that I could imagine to be improved is the labelling of the several rations. Little signs for special nutrition would make it easier for those with special desires (for example little labels with vegi, vegan, Gluten Free, pork etc)

What else could I mention? The wonderful beach? The magnificent lawns, the courtesy of the staff?

I am used to resort concepts by Marriott and Four Seasons but I have to admit that the Sofitel So is really next level to those institutions... and I think this is primarily due to the incomparable atmosphere in this hotel!

Thanks so much to the deputy manager and here whole team (I have to specially name Brenda here whose charm and way to interact with guests is of an incredible nature. She was always so kind and helpful to us but still did not loose a very personal and funny way of interacting naturally. She made us feel so welcome!) for making our stay that outstanding!

We booked a holiday that was supposed to be "all included" when sold through Voyage Privé. When we arrived at the hotel after an 11 hour all night flight from Paris and a shuttle from the airport, we were at first left in an arrival area to be picked up by the hotel employees in a golf cart, since the grounds are for walking or good carts only. After a welcome drink that we really did not want, we were taken to our room and told that someone from the reception would come to check us in. After more than a half hour wait in front of our room, fighting the need for sleep, a receptionist arrived to check us in and we had our first surprise. We were told that our booking was not for an all included stay, but for room and three meals, excluding all drinks, wine and liquors.
