“Who Knew Seneca Falls Was So Industrial?”

Seneca Museum of Waterways and Industry
Attraction details
Reviewed 30 September 2017

This free, three story, Museum is located pretty much in the middle of downtown Seneca Falls. On the backside (south entrance), you are literally "at" the Cayuga-Seneca Canal.

The Museum is appropriately named with displays that pertain to both the Waterways and the Industries that populated the local area. The displays are very well done and very informative. Much manufacturing occurred in this area from the 1840s on.

They have "hands on" activities and also musical events throughout the year. The Museum shares its space with the Seneca Falls Visitor Center, which you should definitely visit early on to plan out your Seneca Falls stay.

The young lady taking care of desk was informative and helpful. The museum was a great starting point to learn what the area offers. We booked a trip on the canal for the next day. The trip was well worth it. We had the opportunity to experience one of the locks on the canal. The captain was informative, friendly and thorough.

This museum had some hands on activities and a great history of the area. Center is so close to a number of other historical sites in Seneca Falls, it is certainly a great part of others it to that village

I am not a big fan of museums of any type but if you know anything about the Finger Lakes and Canal system, this museum was informative about Seneca Falls and its rich waterway history

Situated on the Erie Canal this three floor local museum offers a history lesson about the very important events in state and local history. There is information on the founding and growth of the town as well as the woman's rights movement.
