This museum had some hands on activities and a great history of the area. Center is so close to a number of other historical sites in Seneca Falls, it is certainly a great part of others it to that village

I am not a big fan of museums of any type but if you know anything about the Finger Lakes and Canal system, this museum was informative about Seneca Falls and its rich waterway history

Situated on the Erie Canal this three floor local museum offers a history lesson about the very important events in state and local history. There is information on the founding and growth of the town as well as the woman's rights movement.

We stopped in here on Mother's Day 2017 - after a beautiful day of walking on the Ludovico Sculpture Trail & some geocaching. The museum is housed w/ the Seneca Falls Visitor Center on the main thoroughfare. It was very informative - nice exhibits. We were very surprised at how many businesses used to be based in Seneca Falls!!
The Women's Hall of Fame (across the street), which we didn't visit this time, is in the process of renovating an old building - expected to be completed in July 2017.
We plan on heading back to Seneca Falls during the summer when the canal locks are open and the passenger boat on the canal is operating.
The gentleman who was there mentioned that in season, boaters can dock - for free - along the canal; use the showers in their building; and enjoy the company of other boaters.
Although free, we did leave a donation. It's VERY IMPORTANT to support groups such as this!!!

This free museum was chock-full of great things to see and learn, from history of the town/canal, to Overall history of Finger Lakes, to manufacturing history of local industries-- the water pump, ruler factory and much more. Women's rights museum and hall of fame are across the street. This is right on the main street. And the man at the counter was very helpful and talked to us all about the town. 3 floors of stuff. Good layout and interesting dioramas. Stop in and enjoy!!
