This place was not a total nightmare and was very quiet but also a bit of a letdown and like many other reviews there is a lot of room for improvement. Rooms in the North lodge at least need a major overhaul. Without getting too crazy and specific we will simply say it needs a major updating on everything including the shower which has the water pressure of light rain. The rooms were ok - the pool was extremely cold and hot tub extremely hot. All pavers around pool are loose and move which is dangerous. The food was subpar at best! Don't expect anything more than your Grandmother would whip up on an unannounced visit. Dessert was only two choices like rice pudding or chocolate pudding, you get the idea. Boat rentals were 10am-5:30pm which if you are going to fish these times that's fine but there was no going out late in the day or at first light. Also there are only 2 row boats, which you have to rent. Most places don't charge for cheap aluminum row boats to their paying guests. The times you can take them out or lack thereof is more of a hassle than renting them. I was told that there would be a place to charge my battery for my electric trolling motor but after asking several employees they all looked at me as if I had just asked them if they had a giraffe on the property. The fishing I was told was great, it was not. I caught in three days the only two fish in the lake other than sunfish which the whole family was able to catch from the dock. We brought marshmallows and wanted to roast them over a fire but was told the fire pit is only lit one weekday in the week and so because we were there only for the weekend we couldn't use it. There were lawn games but the shuffle board had to be the original equipment when the game was invented. There was a HUGE elevated crack down the center of the concrete which made those disks act more like frisbees than ground hugging disks. Let's jump to the bocce area - the balls were ancient - a little paint or even better a new set of bocce balls for $20 would roll a long way. The bocce court is so warped it is impossible for you to roll a straight line and the green outdoor carpeting is so old it's starting to grow real grass on it. Also, this is the only place I have ever stayed at where they didn't have an ice machine. They did have bags of ice on site for $1 a bag. The woman at the front desk (not the owner) with dark hair was not rude but not very welcoming or happy either. However the rest of the staff was lovely though. Overall we needed more of an updated place with more options.
