We absolutely love the Sheraton Waikiki. When coming back to Oahu for our (5 year!) anniversary, we decided to go back to our same honeymoon spot.
First of all, a huuuuge mahalo nui loa to the Guest Experience Team (Chiu, Emiri, and Tiara) for surprising us with an adorable photo of us (in frame!) from our honeymoon visit in 2017, balloon, cookies, and lei all in our room upon arrival. We were truly touched!
Now, the reasons why you should stay at the Sheraton over the other Waikiki hotels:
- The pool. The view is fantastic, it’s adults-only, and absolutely stress-free. Take one of your days as a “pool day” and enjoy. TIP: reserve chairs for your day! It costs money but it worth every penny. It runs about $50 per person, but you can mosey on to the pool, away for lunch, and back at your own convenience and never have to worry about whether or not there are chairs available. It’s 100% yours! Book in advance.
- The views. Oceanfront rooms have gorgeous views of the Pacific and Diamond Head (or the sunset). We like staying near the end of the “west” wing of the hotel (#1904 this time) facing the pacific and diamond head. It’s quiet and serene despite the HUGE property.
- The convenience. If you want the Waikiki experience, the Sheraton is tied with the Royal Hawaiian for location. The grounds shared between the two...We absolutely love the Sheraton Waikiki. When coming back to Oahu for our (5 year!) anniversary, we decided to go back to our same honeymoon spot.

- The convenience. If you want the Waikiki experience, the Sheraton is tied with the Royal Hawaiian for location. The grounds shared between the two are gorgeous. Sit in a rocking chair by the koi pond watching the fish and ducks overlooking the gardens of the Royal Hawaiian entrance. See a free performance on the grounds by the shopping center. Mosey up to the food court at the International Marketplace or the Royal Hawaiian center for a quick bite if you’re not feeling more adventurous. It’s just a great spot off of Kalakaua.
- The beach. Some might argue that the Sheraton isn’t worth it because it is not true beachfront like the Royal Hawaiian, Moana Surfrider, our Outrigger. I disagree. I find the Sheraton more relaxing because it isn’t right on the VERY busy Waikīkī beach. Walk on over with a couple towels, enjoy the beach, and head on back. We were able to enjoy the beach in the morning before it got packed, but later could enjoy the serenity of our oceanfront room - watching the turtles swim - without the beach noise and activity. Also, the Maitai Catamaran (unaffiliated with hotel) launches right from the mini-beach by the adult pool. Soooo convenient and we highly recommend booking that activity!
- The style. We were very impressed with the tasteful renovations done here since our last stay. We were happy with its more retro stylings (I actually kind of miss the bathroom peek-a-boo window!), but the new furnishings, carpet, tile, and bath/closet appointment are tastefully done. The tile on the balcony is great, as are the metal leaf barriers between certain balcony tiers (nice touch compared to what could have been bleh).
- The comfort. Fantastic bed, great air conditioning if you need it, and the elevators are ALWAYS available. They recall to the ground floor so we never waited more than 10 seconds for a ride to our floor, and were fast to call down, too. There are 11(!) of them!
Thank you to Lourdes and the others in housekeeping who took care of our room daily during our stay. And thanks to Tina at Rumfire for being so chill when I aced my maitai all over the patio two sips in (I was stone sober!). Brenda was so much fun during morning Aqua Zumba.
We will always cherish our experiences at the Sheraton Waikiki, and look forward to our next ones! Mahalo nui loa, maraming salamat, domo arigato, and a big THANK YOU for a lovely anniversary experience!More
