The place to see memorabilia of American Popular Culture, while sipping on a tasty Milkshake or a Cocktail in a Diner experience.
Great Hot Dogs and Chicken Wings. Does get busy at times, the waitresses have always been friendly and there is plenty of memorabilia to look at by the time your order gets to you.
Highly recommend Rock Island Cafe.

Arrived to a less than busy restaurant to be told to seat ourself and come to the counter to order. That was fine but then wait over 10 minutes to be repeatedly told, "will be there in a tic" but the waitress who was busy doing, not sure what other than fluffing around the restaurant.
Finally took my order and it was such an effort for her. The food was not great, even for someone with a hangover!!
The waitress delivering the food was lovely but on her own, we only tipped well due to her.

The hamburgers are just excellent. Served on a plate in two parts. Very juicy and great in size as well. Staff is very friendly and service oriented. Atmosphere is just for rock'n'roll minded; stuff from 50's and good music.

While on holiday in Waikiki we stopped by the Rock Island Cafe to check out all of the memorabilia and have a feed. We had seen this cafe on the internet and had always planned to drop in to see it for ourselves. The merchandise that is for sale is awesome. Lots of vintage memorabilia, including Coke products, Elvis, Betty Boop, Marilyn Monroe and lots of movie memorabilia.
The food is good old fashioned American fare such as burgers, shakes, hot dogs, sodas and really good pizza.
So if you pass it, drop in. You won’t be disappointed!!!

Had the cheeseburger and onion rings for lunch. Food isn't cheap, but you're in Hawaii so that's expected. Food was good and staff was very attentive. So much to see in this restaurant. Lots of TV, movie and music from years gone by. Worth a stop for a drink just to check out everything they have, being from the Midwest I was pleasantly surprised to see a Route 66 sign among the collection. I do wish the restrooms were located closer to the restaurant, or better yet, inside the restaurant. Patrons are given a key attached to a large plastic basket and walk up stairs to a restroom shared with the adjoining shopping mall. Not a big deal, but inconvenient.
