Had the cheeseburger and onion rings for lunch. Food isn't cheap, but you're in Hawaii so that's expected. Food was good and staff was very attentive. So much to see in this restaurant. Lots of TV, movie and music from years gone by. Worth a stop for a drink just to check out everything they have, being from the Midwest I was pleasantly surprised to see a Route 66 sign among the collection. I do wish the restrooms were located closer to the restaurant, or better yet, inside the restaurant. Patrons are given a key attached to a large plastic basket and walk up stairs to a restroom shared with the adjoining shopping mall. Not a big deal, but inconvenient.

Rock Island Cafe provided my first meal in Waikiki—- a bacon chicken sandwich with fries and unsweetened tea at a cost of $17.65, a pretty standard minimum expense here. The food was delicious and represents only a very small offering from a very broad menu, burgers, nachos etc. The ambiance is grand. The owner is quite enthusiastic about his place too. After mentioning the Elvis statute outside & me being from Memphis, he spoke at length about how fondly Elvis is recalled here and how much Elvis did for Hawaii back in the day. The memorabilia at this cafe is extraordinary and one could spend hours perusing the walls. The cafe is clean and comfortable with inside and outside seating. It is located in a shopping enclave called King’s Village that is also unique. I enjoyed my visit to Rock Island.

Love this place, burger was best ithenbedt I’ve had in Hawaii. The place is filled with classic Hollywood memorabilia, you could spend hours browsing the great collection. Owner was very friendly and it is very obvious he has a passion for his customers and loves collecting. Worth a visit if you are sick of all the chain food outlets.

We found this place just by walking back from a pearl harbor trip. We made back to happy hour for $5 blue Hawaii and a mail tai. We loved the old videos of television shows and movies we grew up with. The food was just ok. We had potato skins which were good but the pizza was nothing to write home about. Kind of pricey but you're in Hawaii so it's expected. The thing that was the biggest difference from other restaurants is that you order everything from the cashier. There is no waitress to take your order. They just bring it to you. So everytime you need another drink, it's up to the cashier to order more. Kind of odd but we survived.

Just off the beaten path it is a fun diner complete with 50's TV showing and 50's music playing. Casual dress and friendly staff top off the good food and reasonable prices. I would go back!
