Bento or plate lunch is always fun here, why? The extensive menu does a double tasty twist to the islands' bento classics. There is a little influence from mainland Japan, thus the crowd of Japanese tourists, in their cooking: aka or red miso sauce for tonkatsu, a near Tokyo style demi glaze sauce over hamburger and baby tako (octopus) tempura and beef tongue stewed to perfection. The servings are generous and the place is an eclectic collection of old tables, chairs, greenery with vintage & surf items for sale. It's just a fun bento place!

A proverbial dive serving mostly Asian cuisine. Wife had the deep fried octopus while I had the Ahi tuna. Both served over white rice. Wife loved hers, mine was ok. But if you are in the area of Diamond Head and want someplace a little different, it's worth a try.

Very unique and cool restaurant. Has unique finds on one side of the restaurant for purchase and the rest is seating space if you decide to eat in.

The food is DELICIOUS, made fresh to order and comes with rice and either pasta or potato salad (depending on the day of the week)

Go visit! They will not disappoint! :)

I really enjoyed the food here. It was a fresher version of your typical Hawaiian plate lunch. I had the garlic butterfish, and OMG. It literally melted in your mouth. My husband had the grilled chicken in a wasabi/soy which I though was great, but I think he was a little disappointed because there really wasn't much to it. If you are looking for a typical plate lunch, I'd head around the corner to Rainbow Drive In. But otherwise, definitely recommended!

Pioneer Saloon offers great lunches and dinner at reasonable prices. Their entrees offer local foods with a pacific rim flair. The best thing is that the food is delicious and healthy! Service is fast and friendly. there are a few tables inside where you can sit and eat if you want to. Parking is the only challenge as there is no designated parking lot. But you can always find a place to park on a neighboring street. Their fish entrees are awesome! Enjoy!
