Owner description: What used to be the center of Newport's commercial seaport in the colonial days, is now the hub of Newport's harbor side shopping and dining, where you can find eclectic boutiques, sophisticated and casual restaurants side by side and cozy waterfront rooms.

This waterfront was once a downtrodden part of Newport that has been revitalized into a tourist attraction with many unique shops. The summer crowds are heavy and some tourism continues into the fall and winter. This was the home of the America's Cup races and is still a starting point for some trans-Atlantic races. Restaurants and shops abound. Parking is VERY scarce. Police presence is plentiful and good and it is a safe place. Night life is abundant. There are many waterfront festivals such as Irish, German and the Newport Boat Show.

Shopping at its best. You could get lost in some of these unique stores. Seems as if time has slipped away. Very relaxing.
