It was disgusting. The room was supposedly "just renovated" nasty pull out couch, ancient furniture and stained dirty carpet. I told my family to grab their bags and we were out of here. I do have to say the staff was very nice and refunded our money immediately. We ended up at the embassy suites Hilton and we thought we died and went to heaven.

The bed was broken down. My husband and I kept rolling together in the middle. It was hard and lumpy. Just about everything in the bathroom was broken down. The faucet was wobbly, the toilet tank was about to fall off. The shower rod was also about to fall off the wall. The air conditioner was so noisy it was hard to fall asleep in that horrible bed. Do not stay in this dump!!!

We stayed at Hotel Aspen Inn Suites on our way to the Grand Canyon and wouldn't stay here again - we had a king room and it was very poor. The room was very dated and needed a lot of repairs, and also very small! The noise from the train nearby was very loud all through the night and runs almost every half hour. The bed was the best part, it was surprisingly comfortable, and the shower was okay. Overall, we would stay elsewhere next time we're passing through.

I booked a room with Cancelon through a tripadvisor link. The price was lower than most in Flagstaff for the first weekend in June. Check in was super easy. The nice young man at the front desk had all the correct info and we had our keys and were on our way to the room in just a few minutes. We had a second floor room. there is no elevator, so keep that in mind if you book. Luckily we pack light and we had no issue getting our luggage up the outside stairs. The room was very clean, but showed its age. Nice bedding, but one of the queen beds was sunken in the middle and made it somewhat uncomfortable to share the bed with my daughter. The bathroom seems to have been mostly updated. New shower and fixtures, new vanity and new tile. The closet rod is hung in a corner of the bathroom with two corner shelves under it. Fine for us since we were there for a swim meet and only hung a few shirts, but not enough room between the rod and the shelves to hang long skirts, pants or dresses. The bathroom was also very clean. In the room, the carpet was clean, but very old. The room is somewhat small for a double queen, but adequate. The fridge worked and kept our water bottles cold. The biggest irritation was that the top drawer of the dresser kept sliding open on it's own within a few minutes of being shut, blocking the small path to the outside door. that would be a problem late at night in the dark. There was no inside lock to the door to provide additional security. The room really needs a new paint job. The walls are thin, and it's easy to hear the tv in another room. The hotel faces the train tracks and some of us had difficulty sleeping since trains run all night. Hot breakfast was nice, and they open early which was a plus for us. It seems as if this hotel is trying to improve, but they have a way to go. If they finish the renovations, and replace the old mattresses, it would be a decent place to stay, provided the trains don't bother you. With improvements I'd give them 3 or 4 stars based on the breakfast, fridge and microwave in the room, and the staff at the front desk. Unfortunately the lack of closet, the cramped room, lack of elevator, and the train tracks would keep it from earning 5 stars.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the back on the first floor since there is no elevator, and the train noise is less.

If you paid half as much you may still be disappointed.
Oil on carpets, broken furniture.
You may get to pay $200 for a suite with a jacuzzi bath, which also didn't work.
Redeemed slightly by comfy bed and breakfast room.
