I think I have a high tolerance for what would be considered a budget-hotel, but I always think that even if a hotel has fewer amenities - it should be at least have a basic level of cleanliness - which I can't truly say this place has.
On a more positive note:
- Front desk person was nice, and tried to be helpful, but it was obvious that they were the only person around when we checked in and were over whelemed with various check-ins and people asking questions. I say - Shame on Management for allowing a young woman to be working all alone with no support - especially on a night shift!
- The shower/bathtub was clean and there was great water pressure on the 2nd floor of the main building
- The safe in the room was a large enough for a large laptop and other items
- It was helpful to have a small refridge in the room (although look at the photos - as it was not maintained)
...and now everything else - some of the photos explain some of the items - but let's face it, the list could go on, and whats the point of documenting everything - its just too much to mention here.
- Over all it appears as if the management is just barely keeping the place together. - Over all it appears as if the management is just barely keeping the place together. They have tried to do some improvements (new tv center area with some drawers), but so much of what they did has bad/sloppy construction (see the photo with pencil lines / holes in the walls for the bed lights)
- Some of the issues seem like basic things that should be corrected ASAP - the entrance way rug (where there is a fireplace and 2 chairs) is actually kind of filthy - why would they want the 1st impression of their establishment to be that? I have no idea....
- The stairwell to the 2nd floor also has filthy carpeting, and the handrails are also dirty. All of the areas with carpeting have a strong scent of air freshner - which actually just makes all the smells worst
- I could go on about the lack of cleanliness - but it's a long list - so I'll just mention, that the hair dryer mounted on the wall had all these brown spots - that I noticed were also on the wall paper in the bathroom. Since I wanted to use the hairdryer - I took a sani-wipe (a reason to travel to with among many) to wipe down the area - and the dirt came off - so if I could do that, why can't the management?
- Upon checking in the price we were given was different than what my emailed receipt said it would be. When I asked about it I was told it was a "safe fee" that would be refunded when I checked out - really?! why isn't that mentioned on my receipt then I wondered. If you are checking in, bring a copy of your receipt with you
- The wireless is inconsistent. I was in the lobby asking the front desk about this with a some other people, and at some point, a person who might have been a manager, came in and told the front desk person to go downstairs and fix it - that woman explained she had already done that twice (and while she was downstairs, a few people came by to see if they could get a room, but since no one was available to speak to them - they left). It turns out that the front desk person, had been there for about a year -but yet no one had explained to her how to correct this problem. Again, I blame this issue on the management - for expecting 1 person to be able to do many many things, and yet, she was not trained well by them. A few of us were discussing that we all felt bad for the front desk young lady.
It is hard to believe that Wyndahm Hotels would approve this facility to be part of their chain, it doesn't really seem like a good reason to trust them as a hotel group when one of their own hotels is in need of help, and they don't seem to be getting it from their parent corporation.More
