When we first walked in, we were very disappointed. We'd opted for this hotel ($72) over the days inn ($54) due to location. The carpets were very stained, the toilet seat was also extremely old, the paint in some places had worn away and the bathroom sink had large cracks in it. After we'd been there a few minutes and the shock wore off, we did realize that despite the stains the room was very clean. Even though the carpets were worn, there was no dirt or anything on them.

We weren't given a coupon for a free breakfast as other travelers in 2007 and 2008, but were given a coupon for 10% off.

The staff was very friendly. The pool was clean and nice. It stayed open until 10:30pm so we enjoyed a late night swim. Also, the beds were extremely soft. We prefer firm beds, so we didn't like them, but they were in good condition.

We were disappointed in Luray itself, the caverns were very cool, but I would suggest staying outside of the town especially if you're doing things outside of Luray as well. There are much better towns in the area. There were some nice restaurants, but many have bad reviews.

We went to Uncle Bucks Restaurant, the food was great and the staff were very talkative, if you enjoy opening up and talking to the locals, this is a great place, if you'd rather eat in peace, I don't suggest it. But we had a great time.

At first glance, the place seems a cute old place. It's pretty much what you would expect in such a small town like Luray. The place is out of date in technology- they didn't even have a computer at the main desk. The woman working was very friendly and helpful. Then we saw our room- it was one of the three in the back lower level. At first, it didn't seem too bad. Odd shower layout, outdated furniture, old tv. Then I noticed the bugs on the floor. They were dead and there were only a few, so I decided to overlook them. We left to explore the town and we came back at night only to find more dead bugs on the floor. We couldn't figure it out, where were they coming from? there were no holes or cracks we could see. We were woken up the next morning at 6 by our upstairs neighbors who were walking around their room- we could hear everything they said and did. No muffling those sounds at all. Needless to say a bad night's sleep. In the morning, we found MORE dead bugs and the icing on the cake- as we walked out the door I saw a massive bug with a long tail slither into a tiny hole by the door. Disgusting. We went to check out and told the friendly woman the situation in the room- only to be told, 'o I know, its a problem we have but come back real soon!' Unless, you have a desire to be around bugs, skip this one. And we paid $100 bucks a night! Ugh.

My wife and I (we're in our late 20's) stayed in the Luray Caverns Motel West on a Saturday in late June. We spent the morning exploring the caverns and then checked in around 1:00PM. Check-in was quick and painless and the woman at the front desk was very friendly. There are plenty of pamphlets with information on local sights & scenes and plenty of menus of local restaurants at the front desk area.

Our room was clean and had plenty of room for the two of us. The room has two padded chairs, two queen sized beds, a table, a small TV (with HBO), and an A/C unit. The bathroom was clean and was stocked with mini soaps and fresh towels. There was plenty of hot water although the temperature did fluctuate a bit if you tried to run the sink or flush the toilet. The room did have about 4-5 flies in it but a few quick swats with my Shenandoah Valley information pamphlet and everything was cool beans :-) .

The motel has a pool and hot tub area but we didn't have swimsuits so we didn't get a chance to test it out. Although, the family and the kids next door to us seemed to enjoy the pool quite a bit. It was a hot day in VA, but the A/C unit in the room did a great job of keeping us cool.

Checking out was an odd experience. The front desk is closed on Sunday but we ran into the cleaning lady and she said we could just leave the key with her or leave it in our room. The woman at the front desk never mentioned this when we checked in.

We picked this motel because of it's convenient location to the caverns. It's just down the street. It's also very close to the old bell tower that does bell ringing shows every Tues., Thurs, Sat., Sun., at 8:00PM. We actually walked to the bell tower from our motel room (it's less than a mile away) to listen to the bells. We found the price was reasonable at $88 for a weekend night. We'd recommend this motel if your in town to visit the caverns.

We stayed at the place for a day or two while we were visitng Luray Caverns and the wildforests nearby. The price that we paid however turned out to be way more expensive than wat was told to us at the time of booking. However we arrived at an odd time of 4 am n it was kind of them to let us check in at the time. The breakfast was complementary and we really enjoyed our stay. We would however have liked our towels to be changed which did not happen.

We also read a few of the reviews here about not staying but decided to try it based upon the good reviews and we are glad that we stayed here. The staff was extemely friendly and very helpful in our stay there, we loved the area so much we decided to stay another night and explore more of the area. The great thing is that we got our tickets for Luray Caverns through them and received a 10$ discount on the room, our first night (2 adults)with taxes and Luray Cavern tickets was 103$ BUT you also get a free breakfast buffet ticket for each person staying to use at caverns resteraunt. (which is a 9$ ticket/person discount) so it was a no brainer to stay there. The rooms are fairly large and the beds were comfortable, we stayed in Room's 24 and 14, and found 24 interesting in that i shut the TV off in the evening and at 200Am the TV came on....could be haunted...but who knows. The views from our back windows were of the mountains and the night was peaceful. My wife and I were very pleased with our stay here and our experiences with this motel are excellent, the price was right and a bargain in our book.
