Good day Kathleen L,
Your review is candid and sweet. Thank you for taking the time to write our beautiful inn a review. Customer service is key and we want our guests to feel like they're comfortable right at home. Thank you again and have a wonderful day.
Arrived without reservations and could only get a 2nd-floor room. My wife and I have difficulty climbing stairs and the parking lot below restricts access to them when a car is parked in that space. This is an old building and has been upgraded somewhat.
Good morning alaurban,
First, I would like to say thank you for choosing to stay with us during your travels. It's unfortunate and disheartens me to learn that you were not as comfortable as I would love to have you. We have many rooms to select from and I would like that you and your wife give us another try if ever on your way through Santa Fe again, we would love to provide the service and comfort you deserve. We look forward. Thank you and have a blessed and wonderful day.
We have stayed at Inn several times over the past 15-20 years. Our room was large, 2 queen beds- great décor, all the amenities including a easy to use (push a button ) gas fired kiva fireplace. This was our first visit in cooler times- the fireplace provided a great atmosphere, almost hated to leave the room. The hot buffet breakfast is very good and we were 2-3 easy walking blocks from the main area of shops and restaurants.
We stayed in early November for 3 nights. The room is comfortably, though not spacious, with a long desk, refrigerator, and microwave. The chair at the desk was rather high making my thigh tightly wedged between the bottom of the desk and the top of the chair. The easy chair across the room was not positioned for seeing the TV, but one could read, with the lamp behind you. The sink area and shower area were definitely adorned with Southwestern décor. The shower water was hot and stable. Everything was quiet.
The breakfast area was adjacent to Reception, across the parking lot from our room. They had a Burrito Bar with all the fixings. There were other stations with other breads and bagels and muffins, juices, and sliced cantaloupe and honeydew melon, slices including the rind. No bananas. The yogurt was one flavor in a large bowl with a ladle. Similarly, cottage cheese was available in a large open bowl. The other annoyance was that all breads were put out in their loaf wrappers. This meant digging into the wrapper for the bread. Similarly, the tortillas were still in their packaging, straight from the store or supplier. It was difficult to separate tortillas inside the wrapper. I would have preferred a tortilla server with the tortillas separated so they could easily be picked up with tongs. Similarly, this classy motel should consider a bread server where the bread can be removed from the wrappers and placed in the clear plastic server.
1. Within easy walking distance of the Plaza but this area is not teeming with tourists.
2. Impeccably clean.
3. Spacious, tastefully decorated rooms with kiva fireplaces.
4. Comfortable beds.
5. Large bathrooms with heated floors and beautifully tiled large showers with rain and regular shower heads.
6. Tasty complimentary breakfast including hot dishes, served in a charming dining room.
7. Starbucks addicts will be pleased find Starbucks coffee in rooms and dining room.
8. Friendly, helpful staff.
9. Good value.
10. In-room safe to store the jewelry purchases you make at the Plaza or in Santa Fe's many jewelry stores.
My husband and I had a small suite at the Old Santa Fee Inn. We had comfortable chairs and a fire place. Unfortunately, it was warm while we were there so we didn't get to relax in front of the fire. There was a small refrigerator in the room which would be helpful if you wanted to keep things cold.
Breakfast was wonderful. They had a wide range of foods, breads, make your own waffles, make your own burrito (great salsa) and of course bacon and eggs and fruit.
One thing to ask for when making a reservation would be a room towards the back of the complex. We were on the main street which could get noisy. It didn't really bother us but some people might find it a problem.
All in all, I loved the hotel and would go back there in a minute. It was a short walk to the plaza and a little longer walk to Canyon Road. It was a good idea to walk to make up for all the wonderful New Mexican cooking in Santa FE.
