Hotel Chimayo de Santa Fe
Ranked #24 of 60 Hotels in Santa Fe
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 6 March 2012

I have been staying at the Hotel Chimayo Since 2004 when it was the Hotel Plaza Real.

I originally went to Santa Fe on a business trip and return several times a year, for the past eight years on holidays. I always stay at the Chimayo regardless.

The front desk are helpful, friendly and professional. They always greet me with a genuine smile.
The rooms are exceptionally clean and well kept and the view from the upper courtyard is very lovely.
The hotel itself is in the perfect location off the Plaza and the cost is extremely reasonable for the location. You are literally a stones throw from the Plaza.
They have recently opened up the restaurant on the second level. This was an added pleasure. The food is wonderful and the staff are fantastic.
The Chimayo is a home away from home for me. I cannot write enough positive remarks. Each and every stay is a pleasure.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a fireplace.

We've always loved staying in Santa Fe, but this plaza- and Canyon Road- convenient hotel ranks with the best.
Great room; large, with a wood fire in the fireplace each night;
Good amenities, including the on-site retaurant (Tia's Cocina);
Close to everything.
We'll visit again.

I got a deal on Priceline and was pleasantly surprised when I walked into the spacious Junior Suite with New Mexican decor. The bed was very comfortable. There was a nice sitting area. Staff were very helpful. The restaurant also exceeded my expectations, pretty exquisite food at reasonable prices (I also got a free appetizer as a hotel guest). The regular price could have been much higher than what I paid though. Wireless connection was also spotty.

My husband and I stayed at this property when it was the Hotel Plaza Real close to 10 years ago. We decided to try it again and found the name had changed and assumed it was under new ownership.

We were pleasantly surprised that all the things we liked about the property - boutique property, great room layout, amazingly comfy bed, wood burning fireplaces, and just off the plaza, makes this a real gem.

My only complaints (although very minor) were in the room. It appears there was a facelift to the room and a few holes / nails remain where fixtures / pictures were moved. It's the little details......

We will DEFINITELY be staying here again!

This is a very nice hotel just steps away from the Plaza in Santa Fe. We stayed for one night while waiting for furniture to be delivered to our Santa Fe home and were impressed. Check in was a breeze and the room was spacious and clean. Wifi was strong and easy to connect to. It was very quiet and due to the time of year, our rate was excellent.
It is an older property and very much Santa Fe style, so don't expect sleek and modern. The hotel is also decorated with items reflecting Sanctuario de Chimayo, so the decor is very "religious" inspired (crosses, Santos) so if you are not comfortable with this, I would recommend you stay elsewhere. The artwork was lovely and the fabrics were beautiful.
All the staff we came in contact with were friendly and helpful. We called for someone to come and light the fireplace in the room. They were there within minutes and were friendly and efficient. The fire was a great touch on a cold night with light snow falling. Although the rooms open to the outside, the room was warm and comfortable. Staff was up early to clean up the snow and make sure things were safe for walking.
This hotel is walking distance to so many things, it would be easy to plan a whole trip here without having to drive anywhere.
If you are looking for a true northern New Mexico experience, I would highly recommend this hotel. The staff is friendly, the rooms are both spacious and cozy and the location can't be beat.
