I highly recommend this house. It was charming. And, there was plenty of space for 12 women to fit comfortably. It’s the ideal location. You are within walking distance to everything. I won’t stay anywhere else in Salem. And Phillip the owner was awesome.
The house was within walking distance of downtown Salem, so we walked as much as possible. Kitchen was updated, and fairly well-stocked with cooking utensils, pots, etc. I would definitely recommend this house for a large group. We slept 7 adults and 3 children comfortably in beds ( not futons or sofa sleepers). Friends stayed in the house next door, so the shared back garden space was really nice.
Very nice house. Plenty of room for 5 women to spread out. Enough bathrooms for all of us to get ready in the morning. Never ran out of hot water. Owner was available to fix anything that might be wrong. Easy access to historic area. Attic bedrooms would be great for the young but old folks like me would have trouble with the stairs. There were 4 bedrooms on the second floor so we did not have use the attic. Noise did not travel through the house. I could not hear the ladies in the room next to mine. Outside noise was only heard in the front 2 bedrooms but it was not very loud.
My wife and I traveled to Salem for a weekend getaway and stayed at the Henry Derby House Bed and Breakfast. We had a terrific visit and really enjoyed our stay. The Derby House predates the Civil War and it was a fun place to stay. Phil and Jocelyn were excellent hosts and provided very useful information about the area and attractions to see. Breakfast was filling and the conversation was very enjoyable. We felt welcome and like a part of the family. The B and B is reasonably priced compared to other's in the area. We would stay here again if we had a chance!
We just left from a 3 night stay for our honeymoon and we didn't want to leave! We checked in late Monday evening and Phillip gave us a tour. He was very sweet and helpful!! The cat was super adorable too :) We stayed in the Mauve room. It came with a large king size bed with an additional room with a twin bed. Also it had a private bathroom on the first floor. Everything was super clean and tidy! There is a mini fridge in the room which is nice. The bathroom had shampoo and body soap and plenty of towels. Also cute robes in the closet to use! There was also an iron and ironing board which was very nice. This B&B was in walking distance from everything! The only time we used our car all weekend was for a trip to Boston. I would definitely recommend this place to others and we will certainly be back!! Thank you for your hospitality!! :)
