This was one of the best pet-friendly deals on our Southwest trip. It's a newer facility with pretty large rooms. We made our reservation the night before, through the main LQ reservation number and were happy to find out there wasn't an additional pet fee. The staff was very nice and we were able to use the microwave in the main room (where the breakfast is served) since there wasn't a microwave or fridge in the room. The only minor downside is the breakfast, which had toaster-style waffles and boiled eggs, as opposed to the fresh waffle machines and scrambled eggs we were offered in some other hotels. But, again, it's a great deal for the money, and a newer facility. We actually looked for a La Quinta in Yuma (our next stop) but they aren't everywhere.

Room Tip: Get a room on the first floor.

LQ has become a reliable choice for travelers booking at corporate chain hotels. Tucson airport is no exception. With prices a bit above above budget hotels, travelers gets more for their money. The extra $10 you pay allows for a few more amentities (heated pool, whirlpool, workout room, a bit larger rooms than standard, and a recliner! in our room). All LQ's are pet friendly which is an added plus. The desk was larger than norm, a plus for business travelers who need the space to spread out their work.

The odd (and annoying) thing about this room was the placement of the toilet paper holder (getting a bit personal here). When sitting on the throne, you have to twist almost 180 degrees to reach the toilet paper; the holder is almost against the back wall. Very inconvenient, especially if you have a mobility problem. And it could be alleviated because there is plenty of space to mount the holder next to or a little bit in front of the sitter. (One of my pet peeves is that the people who design products/buildings don't seem to use them. They design to cut production rather than use. If the guy who designed the placement of the toilet paper holder, for instance, sat on the toilet, he or she would quickly determined how stupid the placement was.

Other than that, LQ is ok.

We booked just one night here early Dec/11. I booked their special rate for CAA/AAA members. I didn't notice that it was for "full size beds"....which means 2 doubles. Our view was a wall. The beds were not the most comfortable but not too bad. Our phone was old and abused.

But the internet was pretty quick, the shower was not too bad for pressure (a big thing for me) and the room was fairly clean. The breakfast was decent and the staff was friendly enough.

My big issue for all hotels is if you're going to push that you're wanting to be environmentally friendly so don't change your towels, etc....at least put a recycle bin in the room. I also really disliked that they use styrofoam cups to make your waffles, as well as styrofoam plates. BUT this is just me. I recycle everything I can and reuse as much as possible.....

Room Tip: It's an airport hotel so you won't get a great view but if you want something other than a w...

We stayed here overnight on 12/3/11. We were very happy with the room, spacious, clean and well appointed. The internet was easy to use and fast. Our two pets, a cat and a dog were easily accomodated with no pet fee. We were tired, so we had food delivered to our room from "Chopsticks". It was ample and delicious. The breakfast the next morning was better than expected. All in all, a pleasant stay. We would definitely recommend this LQ!
