The king room we had reserved had been having difficulty with keys prior to our arrival so we were immediately upgraded to a king suite at no additional cost. It was beautiful, spacious, excellent lighting. We were able to leave the blinds open for the view overlooking the beautiful Santa Catalina foothills and Tucson valley. The rooms were so private. The bed was without a doubt the most comfortable bed ever. The grounds were stunning. The landscaping was endlessly fascinating. We enjoyed exploring the grounds finding hummingbirds, lizards, quail families, woodpeckers, cactus flowers, desert hares...The food at the restaurant was delicious. The bar was lovely and lots of fun. The service was wonderful, everyone was pleasant and helpful. We loved it!

We stayed at the resort for the 4th of July weekend. We were very impressed with the details of the room and the cleanliness. The place is full of history so don't be surprised to find it everywhere you go. We went to The Grill for brunch but to be honest it was a little overpriced even with the discount although the service was excellent. The facilities are close to everything so feel free to drive around town and discover the wonders of Tucson. The views are breathtaking and if you have time schedule a horseback riding. Jane is an excellent tour guide and she will take care of you. We will be there again for sure.

I spent almost a week at Hacienda del Sol during June, 2011 (off season). I got a terrific price on the room since many people are shy of the 100 degree weather. Actually, the temperature is quite tolerable because there is zero humidity. The rooms are clean and very pleasant. The food in the patio restaurant is just as high quality as the 5-star grille. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I used the spa service which was also delightful.

Room tip: As for a room near the cactus garden.

2 friends and i share summer birthdays, and living in the Tucson area. For 15 years we have taken advantage of the low summer hotel rates and go to a local resort for an overnight. Finally this weekend we went to Hacienda del Sol and have decided its the best so far: dignified, intimate, authentic western, beautiful, friendly staff, quiet in spite of being relatively central, free drink coupon, pool, etc, etc. Decided to return next summer!.
