Pinnacles Campground Inc

The Pinnacles Campground is nothing fancy but who needs fancy when you're camping. My husband and I tent camped at the end of April- which was the perfect month to visit the Pinnacles. There's very little shade at the campground (although we managed to get a shaded, private spot in site #10) and a lot of the spaces had no privacy. I'm grateful we got the site we did as I might not have enjoyed my time as much if we hadn't had such a private site. There's a great camp store, knowledgable staff on site, a swimming pool, showers (which aren't free!) and bathrooms. The bathrooms didn't have much light so make sure to bring a flashlight. You can reach all the trails from the campground which is nice, although you can drive to day use areas if you want to shorten the walks. We would definitely camp here again!

Room Tip: Site 10 had lots of shade and tons of privacy

This campground is clean and actually in the national park, so 5 stars for that! But, most of the spots are pretty out in the open with nothing special. We lucked out with a nice spot under some big trees and with the back to a creek, spot 37. But most of the spots we drove past would have felt like you were sleeping on the road.

Room Tip: Space 37 is shaded, good for one car and one big tent.

Great location. East side of Pinnacles National Park. Park rangers and Royal Elk concessionaire staff share the Visitor Center /Camp Store. Both staff are very cordial and helpful. We just spent the last two weeks there in a travel trailer. The 30 amp electrical system is three or four years old and very dependable. Most site drain well in heavy rain. Pay WiFi.

Campground is close to hiking trails and weekend shuttles. Wild turkeys wander through the campground and condors can be seen with binoculars at the end of the day.

My only complaint is that the pay showers are HORRIBLE! They are old and are really no longer serviceable (cleanable). Time for an update. This is the reason for four and not five stars.

Great place to be away from it all, no internet ,no cell reception but nice clean spacious sites with water and electrical hook ups.
There is a swimming pool that makes the stay even better.
Great hikes to vistas and caves on both side of the N.P but no road connects bothe ends and you have to drive around the park to get to the other entrance.
Deer and Eagles can be seen around the park, especially at the mornings and evenings.
The staff is very helpfull and we enjoyed our stay very much.

Stayed at Pinnacles Campground over Easter weekend 2015. We stayed in site 45 which enjoyed lovely afternoon shade from the enormous valley oak. All of the spots along this loop have some sort of shade, with the most being in sites 28-32, though the heat wasn't much of an issue this early in the season. The wildflowers were in full bloom and we saw many condors soaring very far overhead from the campground. The best place to get a chance to get a closer look is to hike to one of the peaks. There is NO cell service once you get past Pacoima or Hollister, but the turnoff of Hwy 25 is easy to spot. The general store has an odd mix of goodies and beer, and wood is $11 a bundle with a starter. Be sure to check the NPS site before coming if fires are allowed or not. Often in the summer you will only be permitted to use portable gas stoves. There were family oriented nature talks each night at sundown that were fun and informative. Pinnacles is truly a hidden gem of the central coast, especially for wildflower, geology, and bird-nerds!
