The ABQ Art Museum is an amazing place to visit for you ,your relatives and visitors. There is a rotating permanent collection of NM art that starts in the 1900’s and moves to the present. If you are s new resident it is the best way to learn why and how NM is such a hot place for art of all types. After the permanent collection you will find and area about Albuquerque it’s origin and growth. Don’t miss the photography collection. You will also be offered a chance to visit a rotating special exhibit of amazing quality and diversity. Tired and hungry? The Slate Street Cafe offers lunch choices and great espresso. Please visit and you will happily return !

Larger than it looks from the outside. Have been there twice and seen about 80% of it. The Rio Grande Valley tectonics and regional volcanic history are very dramatic, but the museum presentation is minimal and some of it caters to grade school students. My visits did not provide much education and the entertainment value was also subdued. Good museums proved at least one, and great museums provide both.

Couldn't get to the Pre-Opening Gala Night (sold out!) but we went there by 10:00 am the next morning and were NOT disappointed!!! I really like how the exhibit cases included pieces from the past AND present--- really mixed up the presentation that way. You could see what styles had changed and what stayed pretty much the same over time. Wonderful Exhibit!
The rest of the Museum has different sections that do not disappoint, as well! Expect to spend at least two trips in this one. Then, do the same for the Natural History Museum in the area...!!!

Museum entry is very reasonably priced. The museum has a good collection and is well designed. We especially enjoyed several interactive activities. The current exhibit is handmade jewelry and one of the activities was stamping designs on a small copper medallion.

I really liked this museum. When we came an exhibition on handmade traditional jewllery was just opened. It was esquisite.
The picture gallery was diverse and had several pieces I really enjoyed. The section showing the history of the town was interesting and well curated. The sculpture garden was OK. The tickets are really reasonable.
