Always use Trip Advisor prior to traveling and we had read reviews that the staff was.....unpleasant? This could not be further from the truth! We were greeted with smiles and the staff could not have done anymore for us. Check-in was perfect. Even though our flight arrived very early, they allowed us to check-in at 9:00 am vs. the specified 4:00 pm. Great 2BR 2Bath suite....extremely clean and comfortable. Found a nice place nearby for breakfast, laid by the pool then went in search of a grocery store. There is a gourmet market just around the corner, but we went to Alexandria and shopped at a Safeway. We had a rental car and had no problems driving in and out of the city. The Ronald Regan parking garage worked best for us. $13.00 flat rate on the weekend and $23.00 weekdays. Very near the White House and Washington Monument. Easy walking to National Mall. National Harbor is quiet yet convenient to DC. 15 to 20 minute drive. Restaurants in National Harbor are wonderful. Rosa Mexicano, Cadillac Ranch and Sauciety were are favorites. LOVE Bobby McKeys Dueling Piano Bar for evening entertainment. Be sure to walk down to the harbor in the evening and watch the big screen TV. They were showing a football game our last night there. Neat to kick back in chairs surrounding the lawn and watch the game. Great vacation! PM me for any questions you might have.

My family and I stayed at Wyndham National Harbor in June, 2014. Overall we found the staff friendly and helpful and the hotel and rooms were clean. We were dissatisfied with their Wifi policy (only 2 devices, any more costs extra). I'm not sure why they think this is a good idea, even your local Hampton Inn or Holiday Express offers free Wifi. Parking was convenient right across the street, albeit at $13 per day. There is a shuttle that transports guests to DC, however we found the easiest method for us was to drive to the Huntington Street Metro Line in Alexandria (about 10 minutes drive from the resort). It costs $5 to park there all day and the metro runs you right into DC (about 25 minutes ride to the heart of DC).
The national harbor area appears relatively new. The buildings are modern and there are not a ton of options regarding activities to do or places to shop. It's worth a stroll on the harbor to check out the bay and live music for a few hours. The grocery and drug stores were somewhat expensive, but traveling into Alexandria to grocery shop we found the prices were expensive there too.
Considering what we needed (kitchen, plenty of sleeping area, proximity to DC), we felt it was our best option to stay at Wyndham. We would stay there again, however I would hope they revisit their wifi policy.

Wyndham National Harbor is a beautiful resort located in the middle of National Harbor. It is within walking distance to shops and restaurants. It is a great trip for families or couples. Easy access to Metro DC to tour the City.

National Harbor is where the resort is located, on the boarder of Varginia and Maryland and next to Washington, DC. Everything in the resort is new, and staff is friendly. Initial check in parking can be a problem, but once in the parking garage you are free to come and go as much as you want. Parking is not free however.
Location here is excellent. Many restaurants and shopping are within walking distance. So is a ferry and metro stop to get to DC and Alexandria.
