“Stunning ”
Review of Clay Cliff

Approx 10km out of Omarama are the Clay Cliffs. Well worth the trip there and the walk up to the Cliffs.
The entry to the Clay Cliffs is on private land . There is a NZ$5 per car fee which I presume will be for the up keep if the dirt road.
Once you get to the car park at the base , there is Approx 5 min-10min walk up to the Clay Cliffs. It may be a bit hard for someone in a wheelchair unless they had help to push them up the dirt wide track.

There are no toilet facilities, so I suggest you go in Omarama before you head there!!

They are stunning to go and walk to and explore. Photos show all

Well worth the drive in at the end of the day. Paying for a private site does not worry me.
Not having at least a porta loo for those aged travelers who might ‘ need to go’ should be addressed
Take the gorse out of your pockets!

Please note that my rating is not based on the quality of the Clay Cliffs themselves, but on the deceptive signage that lures tourists to the site:
The Clay Cliffs sign on the main road has all the markings of an official site sign (white letters/brown background). It does NOT state the distance to the cliffs, nor that a fee is levied for entering the site.
Only after driving several kilometers you will arrive at a gate, where the terms and conditions are finally revealed ...
I consider this deceptive labeling :-(

With hand painted signs and a $5 entry fee per vehicle to drive down a private road, I wasn't really sure what to expect with this (as I didn't research it beforehand). It is certainly worth checking out! The cliffs are very cool to explore and a nice backdrop for photos. I'd say worth the stop.

This is a good little outing to see unique clay formations. $5 per car and we enjoyed a stretch break. Best to wear closed toed shoes.
