Checked in around mid-afternoon to drop off clothes, etc. Returned around 9PM to crash early as we had a 3:30AM wake up call. Checked WiFi to find out we needed a
password. Not an issue until I picked up the phone; NO DIAL-TONE. Walked to reception to get PW and informed the phone lines were cut; Web site advertised phone service and TV service. Then the TV. Remote did not work; back to reception for batteries. TV still did not work. Back to reception. Asked for room adjustment. Well, the price of the room reflected the fact that there was no in-room Phone service; WHAT? It's now around 10PM. Reception is not offering a room adjustment but will refund the room so we can pack our belongings and find another property, at 10PM at night. The story goes on ...

Room Tip: My worst hotel experience was superior to this property which is changing name to 'The Whaler Inn.'

We made a reservation through booking.com (our first mistake - this website said there was only one room left) and when we arrived at the time we said we'd arrive (10 pm, after a five hour drive) this place had no record of our reservation. The poor desk clerk - very nice young man, actually - was very apologetic but could not find our reservation, not even when we had a reference number and a confirmation email to show him. We'd booked a king room with amenities. They were under renovation, this man said, with more apologies, and space might be limited. We were eventually given a double-double room on the second floor right next to the only other two occupied rooms. Occupied by large families whose kids were racing back and forth between rooms screaming at each other. Our room itself was shabby - think peeling paint and scratched furniture - and the walls were very thin so we heard every word and footstep, not to mention door slams. It was now almost 10:30 pm. We asked for a different room and were placed in a room almost directly below the active families. We had trouble opening the door - either the door was stuck or the unlock mechanism didn't work, but it responded to a good kick. This room also was a double-double, and had no extra amenities. It smelled of mold and everything was damp. There was a large dehumidifier parked in the corner. Maybe the room had flooded?? It was even shabbier than the room upstairs, though we would not have thought that possible. Rather than ask for a third room or leave to find another motel at this hour, we decided to stay, as long as something was done to quiet the noise upstairs. That nice young desk clerk went right up there and made that happen, again apologizing. Went for some ice and discovered the only ice machine - in the lobby - was out of service, but the attached sports bar obliged my request. On the way back I noticed that the laundry room was closed, locked, and the machines were stacked on their sides. The sign on the door said "Out of service." No kidding. The renovation was noticeable by the scraped walls and missing molding but otherwise it all just looked worn and in disrepair. At 5:30 am, one of the fathers of the noisy families decided to make a phone call in the hall, and we heard every word of it. They don't serve any sort of breakfast, so there was no point in staying long after our "wake up call."

Room Tip: Find someplace else to stay.

Let me say that this DUMP is a safety hazard for many reasons, and I'm PISSED that I spent $130 for the night. I wouldn't stay here again if someone paid ME $130 to do so.

First of all, it definitely has mold issues, because the damp, dirty and disgusting carpeting, along with the old musty air-conditioners are trapping it in every room throughout the entire hotel. You can smell the strong odor of must and mold the second you walk into the lobby.

Second, half of the lights in the common rooms in the hallways, breakfast room, and other areas were completely turned off throughout the hotel. It felt completely unsafe to walk around inside of the hotel.

Third, The rooms were dirty and disgusting, the bathrooms had mold in the shower curtains, and I would never in a million years walk barefooted in the room, and did not even want to sleep in the sheets of the bed, which were stained and nasty.

Fourth, the characters who are hanging out inside and outside of the hotel, looked like they were from the twilight zone. Spitting their chewing tobacco on the grounds of the hotel, hanging out and staring as you walk by, I would not let my daughters walk around that place unsupervised, ever.

Outside of the safety issues, the hotel falsely advertised on its large board outside that it had been newly renovated. This could not be further from the truth. The restaurant on site was closed down, and inaccessible. The pool was completely closed down. None of this was mentioned anywhere on any website, including their own website. The only reason we chose to stay here was because everything else in the area was booked, and the picture that they advertise of their pool online actually looks decent. But the pool is completely out of commission.

The rooms and the hallways were old and dark and dungeonous . I did not see one square inch of space that had been renovated. Common hallways and areas had peeling wallpaper with water stains on them, as well as water stains on ceilings throughout the space. Clearly they need a new roof. The entire hotel should just be leveled and rebuilt.

Oh, and one more thing about the rooms, many of them face the interior of the hotel, in an attempt to overlook the pool area. However, that interior space that the rooms face onto, is fully lit 24/7. Therefore, the light comes directly into the rooms and you cannot block it out, so to add one more thing to the list of reasons why you cannot even sleep here, your room has a ton of light coming into it and the wimpy shades that they have on the windows of the room don't block it out at all. Not to mention that you cannot get an ounce of fresh air when you open the windows, because they open into the closed and musty space of the interior of the hotel.
