We went to Fairmont Kea Lani in November of 2008 for our honeymoon. The 5 star rating is well deserved and everything was just perfect ! It sits just across the roads from the Wailea golf courses and is in the more quiet part of the Island.I selected this resort after trying to stay away from locations that were family resort types since we were on honeymoon we didn't want a lot of screaming kids around(love kids). The Fairmont Kea Lani was perfect in so many ways from the greeting to the first walk into room greetings awaiting us(a special note plus 2 seashell Lei's that we still keep hanging on mantle in bedroom) . The Suite we had was enormous and was divided into 3 different rooms with a beautiful Lani porch for Sunrise and sunset viewing, The bathroom was also very nice with a huge walkin shower and huge jacuzzi tub. The staff was wonderful and extremely accommodating, Every morning we would call for car to be brought around and depending on the weather or where we were going they would offer us water to take along or towels or anything they thought we might need for where we were headed too. They also directed us to a Very well renowned tiki carver that is very obscure person to locate, here we bought tiki's for all our special friends. The resort was beautiful and well maintained with all the options you might want. Swim up tiki bar in pool that gives you wonderful sunset views (this was favorite night time thing to do). The food at resort Including room service was outstanding,I would recommend the room service Pizza and Hamburger to anyone lol ! All in all we wouldn't change a thing about our stay at the Fairmont Kea Lani and eagerly await our revisit in the near future !!! Way to go Fairmont !!!

Room Tip: We stayed in a south/eastern facing suite so we would have beautiful sunset views, also stayed on 3rd...

We've travelled to a number of resorts recently but this one was by far the best. It's not just because of the location (probably the best in Wailai) or because it's a Fairmont (a very good hotel chain). This place was special. The building and grounds are beautifull and the staff were helpfull and engaging from the welcoming lei and juice at check in down to the hotel cleaning staff. Our room was designed in a way that takes full advantage of a large deck and living area with a spectacular view of the Pacific. The new renovated Ko restaurant is truly spectacular in every way. The food is a combination of Hawaiin fusion mixed with Asian and every table is situated in such a way to enjoy the sunset. We took full advantage of the many activities the hotel offers - free fitness classes and a cultural tour of the property. We look forward to a return visit.

Great stay at the Fairmont Kea Lani, it was a wonderful stay from start to finish. We went for 8 nights with our 10 month old son and our parents. The staff were exceptional from arrival through all our meals and activities right up to departure. The room was amazing, the suite was very spacious and the bathrooms were incredible. It was great to have a one bedroom suite for our family as our baby needs to go to bed quite early and it was easy for us to put him down and hang out in the suite or on the spacious patio. The grounds and facilities were great and very kid friendly (although they do also have an adult pool which is very nice). We took part in many of the free activities offered, including a fitness class and a cultural tour. The breakfast restaurant offered a great buffet with an omelet station and the staff were very friendly and made us feel very welcome with a little one. We did enjoy two dinners and one lunch in Ko, their newly renovated restaurant. It was beautiful and the food was excellent. The lobby bar is a beautiful place to watch the Maui sunset and the drinks are great. Overall, one of the best holidays ever!

We have stayed at many excellent hotels and although the staff were very friendly this was not one of them. Very expensive - over 1K a day for the Signature Suite which is actually quite small. As others have noted they do nickel and dime you for everything. Umbrellas, boogie boards and $13 drinks. Breakfast buffet is fine, Nick's restaurant is excellent but again very expensive (but then that is Hawaii). Room cleaning was sub-par for our experience. Beach is nice. Again staff were all quite friendly and generally eager to help but over-priced for the room and extra costs.

My husband and I are both very well travelled and run the gamet from backpacking to luxury travel, all over the world. We usually rent a condo during our other trips to Maui.

Overall our trip was fabulous but here it is broken down into categories-

CHECK IN- Our room was not ready when we arrived, but they offered us a room to use (and of course a cold drink and lei). We opted instead to grab a bite to eat and sit by th pool while we waited.

ROOMS- We had a garden view room and it was lovely. Except for upgrades all the standard rooms are huge! Easily the best bathroom ever? A living room, bar in foyer and bedroom along with a huge deck. More than enough room for the two of us. Definitely worth the money for such generous square footage.

POOLS- If you are a pool person this is the resort for you- The big Main pool has the swim up bar, a slide to a lower pool. (full of kids so we didnt go in), And an adult pool (very quiet, we loved it) and the lack of swim up bar didnt matter as pool side service was very attentive... Including pineapple slices and ice water.

FOOD- Loved All the room service food pool side but other than that one indulgent buffet brunch (always a favorite fairmont calorie splurge!) we ate off site.

ACTIVITIES- Loved the yoga in the morning. We stand up paddled in the morning and they were very helpful directing us. Turtles came right upto our boards....amazing!

SERVICE- Second to none, everyone couldntb do enough for you. This would be my biggest reason to going back. Everyone is always smiling and helpful with whatever we needed.

OVERALL- It depends what kind of holiday you are after, with our kids I still think I would pick a condo. But this trip was so relaxing and although maui has lots to see (if you chose to leave the hotel) if you just want to lie in tropical surroundings away from kids for a week and relax this would be my first choice for that. Would I go back? Yes.
