I don't know where to begin as this was one of the best travel experiences of my life. This hotel is the most beautiful place we have ever stayed at, absolutely picturesque scenery everywhere you turn. I traveled with my wife and we both felt this way. The small number of people writing bad reviews are insane.

We arrived and walked through the gorgeous walkway to the lobby, and were greeted by a warm staff person, along with a nice view of the ocean and resort. We sat down and waited a few minutes while the staff person pulled up our info, but were given fresh juice and a cold wet towel for our faces. He gave us an overview of the resort and then led us to our room.

Room
Large comfortable bed, overlooked resort and ocean, large outdoor deck. The electric sheer/blackout curtains were incredible. Shower, which gives you the option of opening shutters and letting in view of the whole room and outside, was so big and so cool.

Pool
The three infinity pools were spectacular, we hung out in the lower infinity pool which had a hot tub and it was heaven (and also open 24 hours). Was not crowded and staff (chairs/towels AND waiters) were friendly and attentive. Free sunblock, towels and infused water provided!

Food/Drink
Cocktails at all bars were tasty, made well and potent, although very expensive. Not the place to spend all day/night drinking - beers $8-$10 each and any other specialty drink was $16-$24. Food was also pricey, but surprisingly good, and diverse. All of the food we had at pool bars was delicious (lobster grilled cheese!). Live music every night was also a plus, watching the sunset at the pool bar while having a great acoustic act play music was a memorable experience.

Morimota Restaurant was our favorite. Food, drink and service was excellent. We had dinner in the bar area and were able to watch the luau for free, which was a plus since they charge about $200 for it.

We did coffee and light breakfast in the "Grab and Go" shop each day and this was perfect each morning and a good way to save some cash.

Beach
Beach was beautiful and not crowded. The water is crystal clear and there is coral reef right there. They offer free snorkeling, canoe trips, paddle boarding and kayaking. I spent 3 days snorkeling along side sea turtles right off the beach, this was amazing and probably the highlight of the trip for me!

The hotel also offered rides within Wailea, which we took advantage of to go to Monkeypod restaurant (another amazing experience)!

We plan to come back here within the next 12-18 months. Thanks Andaz!

Room Tip: Would recommend a room on at least the 5th floor, for the best views.

Had a fantastic experience when we stayed here last month. The property is gorgeous from the lobby all the way to the ocean. The service was great overall and the concierge service is world-class!! Whether you need directions, need a bike or a Gopro, they can and they will help you with everything. They also have workshops and other activities. One night we were having dinner and had some questions about the desserts and the pastry chef herself (Ashley) came out to explain everything! She was so amazing and kind! This not the traditional and classical 5-star resort like the ones in its neighborhood but it's really refreshing to see something new and modern like this!

I stayed here with my girlfriend for five nights and we loved it. The hotel is very tastefully designed, from the lobby, to the rooms, to the pools that sit between the ocean and hotel. At night a combination of ground lighting, torches, and fireplaces scattered among the pools provide a magical feeling. There is a large amount of space devoted to the numerous pools and beach - and although they are almost always in use - they never feel crowded. The service at the hotel is top notch and throughout our stay all the staff were extremely pleasant and welcoming. Some other reviewers have noted that the rooms are small. We found them adequate with extra drawers under the bed to store your clothes if necessary.

Parking is available at 35 dollars a day. If you choose not to rent a car the hotel has a driver which can drop you off in convenient locations in Wailea upon request. We used him one night and it was more convenient then I expected, just a 10 minute wait and then when we finished dinner we called and he came to pick us up almost immediately. There is also a free self serve laundry with free detergent at the hotel.

A number of reviewers as well as myself were trying to decide between the marriot Wailea and andaz so I will provide my opinion. Although I did not stay at the marriot I did take a walk along the the beachside path for about ten minutes to the property and looked around the outside and pools. There is no question that the Andaz is a more tasteful and elegant property. Andaz is also rated as a virtuoso property where marriot is not so that tells you something. Virtuoso is an agency that rates top hotels and luxury apartments around the world. This also means if you book your Andaz stay through a virtuoso travel agent you will get a free room upgrade if available (and they seem to hold rooms in reserve for this reason as we got an upgrade even though all travel sites were showing sold out), welcome gift (in our case bottle of champagne) and a 100 dollar spa credit. Andaz is also the highest brand for Hyatt hotels whereas marriot is below JW marriot which again tells you something. If you are looking at even prices go with Andaz, if marriot is 100 usd a night cheaper at time of booking maybe go with it but I bet the cheaper rooms are not Oceanside.

Two advantages marriot does have is that it sits closer to the ocean. Andaz is a little far back. You can see this from the pictures from our ocean view room at Andaz which I attached. The beach front rooms at marriot are super close to the ocean but I think those rooms are pretty pricey. Second marriot rooms are bigger so if that is important to you may be worth considering. At the end of the day both properties are very nice so doubt you would be unhappy with either but my preference is with Andaz.

If you are concerned about price value you may be better off avoiding Maui and Hawaii altogether. For 500 usd a night if you venture to Thailand or other south East Asian countries you can get a villa on the beach and your own private pool not to mention saving at least 50% on daily food costs and 70% on spa costs (often better quality too) Try looking at six sense resorts in Asia if interested. If you do have your heart set on Maui though, you will have a fabulous time at Andaz.

Highly recommend. Amazing staff. The swimming pools are amazing. The resort is pricey but you get what you pay for. There is no need to leave the resort but there are some great restaurants close by and they will take you there and pick you up.

We are staying at the Andaz Maui for a week to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. This is a beautiful location with nicely designed indoor and outdoor spaces and quality dining. Staff is awesome all around. Now the disappointing part: We requested a quiet room and were given the 7th (top) floor of the Akai tower. Not only does this room have constant equipment noise from the air conditioner coils on the roof, but our room would fill with smoke most mornings and nights. We couldn’t open our balcony door and enjoy the fresh air. This appears to be a known issue and one that the hotel really can't do much about. We were offered a different room overlooking the bar and pool area. However, after reading a TripAdvisor review from April 2018 that called out smoking issues near the bar, we declined. Very very disappointing. This issue may be particularly worrisome for guests with asthma. Since all rooms have balconies, it is likely an issue that will persist.

Room Tip: Akai and Hema towers are quiestest, EXCEPT for top floors which have air conditioning equipment noise
