For 700$, for all the days that we ware there this money is not worthy! We got a two bed room so we can be comfortable there because the regular rooms are very tiny. The breakfast could be better! The omelette does not have any taste sausage is ok and yogurt. Breakfast is open from 7-10 AM, we got there at 9AM and there was no breakfast. The view is beautiful. The lady from the front desk don’t even smile to you, you feel like you are bothering somebody.
Next time we will prefer to go to another Hotel.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry about the experience you had. I would like to get to bottom of this . Would you be able to share the name under who you had the reservation or the date of stay so we can see what went wrong ?

None of our rooms cost $700 for 2 days in winter, its easily verifiable online also.

We checked in at Alexander’s Lodge, in Ashford, climbed up the steep stairs to our tiny room and unpacked. Because we were losing light, we quickly left the lodge around 6pm. One of the reasons I chose this inn was because it was not far from the entrance to Mount Rainier National Park giving us less driving time and more time to explore.
When we drove down the mountain and got back to our room in the inn the temperature was over 80 degrees inside. We struggled with the air conditioner that didn’t seem to work making the room very hot at first, then a little cooler but ultimately less than adequate. We collapsed into bed for a very restless night in a very hot room. We later learned that in addition to the uncomfortable heat, if you and your partner are not equally weighted you will likely struggle to stay on your side of the bed. I kept sliding into Dave during the night so the mattress was not the best and neither was our rest. At least it was quiet.
The Alexander’s Lodge and Inn included breakfast (7am to 9:30am, we did the 7am to get on the mountain early). The breakfast was all self serve. Coffee, tea, apple juice were at a table station. You help yourself to bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs and cooked potatoes in steamer trays. Yogurt, hard boiled eggs, a waffle maker, bagels, toast and English muffins were also available but there was no visible staff. There was plenty to eat but not the quality I had expected thinking at an inn with a restaurant, a chef would be on staff here. It turns out it was not that kind of inn. This breakfast was no different than a major motel chain breakfast.
On the second night here it was a pleasant 68 degrees outside down in the little "town" of Ashford. But when we got back to our room it was a stifling 80 degrees! The AC totally malfunctioned. It tried unsuccessfully to call for help and ended up having to email for service. I will say the repairman came promptly and agreed we had a problem. An hour later we were finally comfortable and I could begin to prepare for the next day. Meanwhile Dave was asleep while the air conditioner hummed away.
Equipment malfunction at the Ashford Alexander’s Lodge this morning so the “major motel chain style breakfast” of eggs and bacon etc was replaced with crappy breads. There were little cartons of milk in the fridge but no cereals. At least there were some bananas, fresh oranges and old apples. All this with loud country music. I am wondering if the “equipment malfunction” had anything to do with an overload of air conditioners last night. The best I can say for this rustic lodge with its tiny sometimes hot sometimes cold shower is that it was one of the closest (5 miles) to the entrance to Mount Rainier National Park although as we drove towards the park entrance we saw other probably better options. They did have 2 plug ins for electric cars so there was that.

Room Tip: Make sure the air conditioner works if you stay in the summer!

We were here during the off season and although we were the only guests one night they did not skimp on making our stay truly delightful. Our breakfast was full and complete, we had a fire in the parlor, and all the lighting was on around the grounds. They can't have made a profit that night, but regardless, we were given the full experience. The other two nights there were other guests as well. And that was fine too. We loved playing jenga in front of the fire in the large parlor. We also enjoyed our private rooms and appreciated having both the bedroom as well as the sitting room.

I booked this room because it was recommended by another BnB with no vacancy. I am so glad! We stayed here over 26 years ago (before our son.) We had eaten at its fine restaurant several times (no restaurant now-the former owner and amazing chef retired.) We had enjoyed the food greatly but the lodging had not been memorable.

What a surprise this time! A welcome gift split of prosecco. Comfortable bed and room. (We were in a second floor suite.) Clean. Warm. The common lounge has had a facelift: comfy chairs and couches, warm fireplace, games, 100s of dvds, and snacks for modest prices. Afternoon glass of wine. The included breakfast, while modest, was freshly cooked and the coffee was good. Staff were all helpful and pleasant. Thoughtful hospitality. Oh—and excellent WiFi—a rarity around here.

The location is perfect-very close to the Longmire entrance. Near the Copper Kettle restaurant (open year round) and the Wild Berry (open in the spring summer.)

Alexander’s has been around for many years. I hope it continues-this owner cares!! We will be back.

We live in the Seattle area and love to visit Mt. Rainier and the surrounding areas. We spent a very comfortable Friday night at Alexander's Lodge and enjoyed quaint environment of a small hotel with interesting history and charm. The spacious parlor was a nice place to relax by the fire before heading out to dinner. The hotel is just over a mile from the Nisqually entrance to the Mt. Rainier Ntl Park and is a great place to stay before heading into the park the next day. Although the building itself is over 100 years old, our room had modern amenities such as microwave, coffee maker, refrigerator, HD TV with about a billion channels, dvd player, a Google smart speaker, and a very comfortable King bed. We very much enjoyed our stay.
