We stayed four nights in this delightful family-run hotel, and accomodation-wise it turned out to be the best part of our holidays that included two other hotels in different parts of northern Spain. Nigel, the British hotel owner was very welcoming, always ready every morning to provide us with useful tips and maps for our walks - unlike at the Hotel del Oso in the Picos de Europa as I will explain in another review. It is clearly a place that caters for walkers and does it seriously, including at mealtimes. Breakfast is full of everything you need for the day's hike, and dinner is just great, cooked by Nigel's son-in-law, using mainly products grown on the organic farm behind the hotel, and offering a vegetarian main course. Dinner might look huge on paper - soup, hors d'oeuvres, main course and dessert - but the portions are just right and extremely tasty. We chose to book two of the larger rooms and they were very comfortable and roomy, with two armchairs - rather than the one in most bedroom hotels - and looking onto the valley. All in all, a pity we did not stay longer.More
