We stayed a bit outside of town, and weren't ravenous, so decided to make the drive to the Woodstock Inn and order apps and drinks at the Richardson Tavern. The atmosphere in both the hotel and the tavern was upscale, warm, and cozy (we were seated at a table with upholstered wing chairs for seating), and the menu offered an appetizing assortment of local fare. The homemade ricotta with tomatoes stood out as the winner of our food selections which also included a flatbread which was yummy and the pâté which was fresh, but though filled with potential, neither knocked it out of the park for us... both a bit underseasoned. Service was professional, if a bit less warm and genuine than one might expect in Vermont.
Overall, we felt like it served our purpose for the casual evening, and is definitely a high end tavern experience, but would not likely return for a full dinner.
