Description: The essence of Vermont and flavor-driven small plates are paired with a bar featuring local craft brews and spirits at Richardson's Tavern. A relaxed atmosphere invites warm conversation and friendly company among friends and family. Dine al fresco on the porch in the warmer months or sink into the oversized lounge chairs fireside for a casual drink or meal.

We stayed a bit outside of town, and weren't ravenous, so decided to make the drive to the Woodstock Inn and order apps and drinks at the Richardson Tavern. The atmosphere in both the hotel and the tavern was upscale, warm, and cozy (we were seated at a table with upholstered wing chairs for seating), and the menu offered an appetizing assortment of local fare. The homemade ricotta with tomatoes stood out as the winner of our food selections which also included a flatbread which was yummy and the pâté which was fresh, but though filled with potential, neither knocked it out of the park for us... both a bit underseasoned. Service was professional, if a bit less warm and genuine than one might expect in Vermont.

Overall, we felt like it served our purpose for the casual evening, and is definitely a high end tavern experience, but would not likely return for a full dinner.

Thank Michelle H

What a treat for us to welcome you to Richardson’s Tavern while you were visiting Woodstock recently. You chose well with the local ricotta; we have some other amazing cheese offerings you’ll ah veto try on your next visit!

For example we recently changed our Vermont Cheddar Fondue and are now making it with cheddar produced from the milk of Billings Farm’s 100% Jersey herd. That in itself is good reason to visit Woodstock, and we hope for your next visit you might consider staying with us as well as dining in Richardson’s tavern and our more formal Red Rooster restaurant!

Thanks again,
Rick Reno

We’re glad you enjoyed your time in The Tavern and a few of the most popular items on our menu. The fish stew in particular has been on the menu for years, and continues to be a year-round favorite!

We are also proud to offer a wonderful and always changing selection of exclusively Vermont draught beers, many of which are not available in bottles out outside Vermont. On top of the great food, charming ambience, and friendly service, the beer alone is good reason to visit again and again!

Thanks for the great review!

Thank you for joining us for dinner and for your kind words about our food and service. We try to strike a welcoming balance in Richardson’s Tavern between the friendliness of an authentic tavern and the fine cuisine our guests and local residents associate with the reputation of The Woodstock Inn. I’m glad we seem to have succeeded in that effort and hope you’ll visit often when in the area.

On Monday nights especially, our chefs have fun creating some really exciting variations on the “burger night” theme; a big favorite among locals and resort guests alike and definitely worth a visit!

Thanks again,
Rick Reno

We really like Richardson's Tavern for a nice comfortable dinner out in a relaxed, yet classic and upscale pub environment. The beautiful dark wood paneling and the cozy alcoves along the wall make for great intimate conversation. Our latest visit was with friends and we all enjoyed our meals and drinks. The wait staff there is very accommodating and friendly. We tried two of the grilled romaine salads which were both interesting and tasty. The romaine had not been shredded, etc., but rather left in a wedge and grilled with dressing and other salad ingredients over it. An order of grilled vegetables included a nice assortment of turnip, red peppers, onions, green beans and goat cheese. We also tried a maple breakfast stout that was very smooth, thick and delicious. Great place and very good food.

Thank you for joining us in Richardson's Tavern over the years, and for taking the time to share your wonderful review! I’m especially happy to hear you enjoyed some of the newer items on the menu, and our selections change throughout the year to reflect the seasons, the region, and what’s available from our organic gardens at any given time.

I’m also glad you enjoyed sampling some of Vermont’s finest beers: did you know Vermont enjoys more breweries per capita than any other state in America?

Thanks again, and we hope to see much more of you in the future!

Happy Holidays,
Rick Reno

My wife and I stopped into the tavern on Christmas Eve for a night cap and found ourselves in the easy chairs in front of the fire. We were late in arriving but the staff would hear nothing of our leaving until we were ready. We stayed while they set up the tavern tables for the Christmas buffet the next day. While we only had wine and cannot rate the menu, the staff was exceptional. It was the end of a very long day and they were hustling to get the tavern set up for the next day so they could go home. In the midst of this we arrived and despite our attempts, they would not hear of us leaving until we were ready. We thoroughly enjoyed or time before the fireplace and watching a professional staff prepare the tavern for dining the next day. We would have returned to try the food, but had to cut our trip short.

Thank you for stopping in for a nightcap on Christmas eve!

We are thrilled that you enjoyed the cozy seating in front of the fire, and a warm welcome from everyone on the team there. I’m sorry you weren’t able to join us for an intimate dinner, but that gives you another good reason to come back to Woodstock soon!

We look forward to welcoming you again and helping you create the kind of family memories that can last a lifetime!

Thanks again,
Rick Reno
