Very casual ambience with spaced layout.. my wife and I had the Jamaican Jerk chicken and
Annatto Rice & Pulled Chicken Sofrito...and both were absolutely delicious! Place get busy in the evenings so would recommend doing advance reservations. We read the reviews and visited this place and am glad we did!!!

We went into this restaurant on a Tuesday. We were the 3rd table and we were worried because it was pretty empty. But oh my gosh they did such a great job. Interesting flavors, well balanced, and visually beautiful. Later we learned they just decided to open on Tuesdays. We really enjoyed this place.

Melaza is centrally located in Woodstock, and has a relaxing atmosphere with tables spaced far enough apart to allow for conversation with your dinner partners. The decor is bright and colorful, and the menu is full of creative choices with a Caribbean flair. We started with the coconut shrimp, panko crusted and served with a mango salsa. They were delicious! A house salad accompanies most entrees, and it is dressed with a wonderful pomegranate
vinaigrette. The Jamaican jerk chicken was a generous juicy portion with pepper and caramelized onions in a tomato basil sauce. The plantains and Spanish rice that came with the meal were a perfect side dish. The pan seared diver scallops were outstanding. Large and succulent, they were served with a saffron risotto, curry coconut sauce, and pineapple chutney. Desserts sounded fabulous, service was attentive, and this was a wonderful dinner experience. It was great to have such diversity in our dining choice.

We went to try something new and thoroughly enjoyed a couple of appetizers and drinks. Friendly staff, clean restrooms, and amazing food. We would definitely go back and have dinner outside on the sidewalk next time.

My swordfish entree was memorable but my husband announced his scallops as "best ever"! Presentation is a highlight and so is the bread with cilantro dipping oil. Specialty cocktails are a great start without being fussy. Comfortable dining room with cozy bar for after dinner drinks. Pretty patio dining too! We were still recovering from a late lunch so didn't get to explore menu as we would have liked. I have a feeling that it's all pretty wonderful.
