Cortijo Valverde is wonderfully peaceful and relaxing.

During a week in late September, we spent days reading by the pool and in the shade of the gardens, as well as many days exploring the area: this is an ideal spot, and the website gives good ideas for visits/activities.

Some nights and days we ate in and enjoyed the fantastic food prepared/created by Burt, we also ate out at local restaurants and enjoyed that experience too.

The owners are friendly, welcoming and extremely helpful and this is what made our stay especially good.

Thanks, Wendy and Burt!

We stayed here for two nights at the end of a week long cycle tour. Very relaxed and comfortable, with extensive gardens and a pool looking out over the surrounding countryside. Well placed for a range of outdoor activities including cycling and walking, and the owners will help to organise this if needed. Food was a highlight, with the owner and chef Bert serving some wonderful creations, and clearly passionate about his cooking - not something you find too often in southern Spain. Highly recommended.

Having recently spent four days in Valverde with another couple we wish to say a very large thank you to Wndcy and Bert. This is a most place, very relaxed and easy going. Wendy and Bert Are excellent hosts and always eager to ensure guests are looked after. The accommodation is excellent with air condition which was really needed with temperatures over 40 degrees in early Sept. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were very good and even on the day we left Wendy and Bert allowed us return after lunch to shower and at short notice Bert served a delightful lunch of baby eels with pasta.
For anyone wishing to do some sightseeing Valverde is in a great location with the Caminito Del Rey walk a must for anyone who visits this area.
We could say lost more good things about Valverde but let's end by saying it is a special place, relaxing, peaceful and a delight to meet the wonderful owners, Wendy and Bert.

If you are looking for a quiet, secluded B&B with nice mountaintop views, lush landscaped walkable grounds, comfortable suites, and a professional chef on-grounds, this is definitely the one.

3 nights. Cycling trip. No car transportation. All meals were eaten on-site, as prepared the professional chef/owner. Unless you have special dietary restrictions, I would suggest simply deferring to the chef for meal selections. If you wish to eat elsewhere, you will certainly need car transport into the small/rural town.

Rooms are located in a row of attached suites separate from the main residence, where meals are eaten on one of the (screened or unscreened) patios. Rooms (exterior and interior) reflect the Spanish style that a foreign traveler will likely desire.

Weather was unseasonably cold during (May) stay, at least for a Floridian. Hosts arranged for heating as needed, and accommodated a slightly later checkout so that I could go on a final (bike) ride before departure, since the weather had (finally) cleared..

Atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious. The property/grounds was a favorite (see pictures).

Perfect location just up in the mountains north of Malaga, within easy drive of the coast, the lakes, El Chorro. Lovely pool and gardens with many secluded, shady seating areas, your own terrace or the dining terrace with great views (day or night) of the valley. Owners, Bert and Wendy, are obliging and friendly; Bert creates some lovely meals from fresh ingredients. Rooms are quiet and private, very spacious with lots of extras.

Room Tip: All rooms are situated so you have privacy and lovely views of the garden and hills.
