The Holiday Inn Express on Battlefield Parkway is a little bit shabby, worn and torn. BUT, they really try hard.
So we made our reservations at least 2 months in advance, and were billed 14 days before scheduled arrival. This is the way to do it if you want to save money and your plans are set in stone. The room was a double queen, like most HI Expresses standard, nothing fancy.
In the bathtub, the faucet was loose and not caulked properly. The micro wave turntable did not turn, the lug was broken off. The small refrigerator did not hold much, luckily we travel with a large ice chest in back of the truck.
These are small things,I know. Hot breakfast was good and it was on time, I think 6:30 AM when the only guests up at that hour were the US Army and me. On Tuesday morning the air conditioning in the common areas (such as the breakfast lounge) was not working. But our room was nice and cool.
Manassas National Battlefield is just over the hill so I made 2 visits to General Jackson (Stonewall) that day.
If we ever return to Manassas, VA, we will probably look for another place to stay, now that we know the lay of the land. But the Holiday Inn Express was adequate.More
