A hotel that is made excellent by its staff and can-do attitude. From Simon the manager, Roslyn on Reception and our cleaner Elaine nothing was too much trouble. Other reviewers have questioned the 4 Star Rating which misses the point. It is an excellent value for money hotel, comfortable and clean and my advice is to just ask if you need anything that will improve your stay from a softer mattress, room fan or tea/coffee making facilities( need your own supplies). Book direct with the hotel for the best prices and ask for a room 401-404 or 501-504. Enjoy.

We have just come back from a week's stay at the hotel. It is true that it is not 4 star but it is clean and well kept, the staff could not be more pleasant and attentive and the cleaners never knocked on our door in the mornings. The food was excellent quality and served in generous portions. the chef even made me a different vegetarian dish every evening and served it to my table himself. we have absolutely no complaints. The pool was clean and peaceful and there was always a place to sit.

Room Tip: 3rd floor sea view is good.

If you're looking for a flash, modern hotel this is not the one for you. It is older but we really enjoyed our time there. It is located about 5 minutes from the promenade of Qawra and uphill which was tough in the heat but not a massive climb either. The breakfast was good, buffet style. We had a room on the top floor with a fabulous view even if it is over the top of other lower buildings. It was lovely to be able to sit on the balcony in the evenings and enjoy the heat and the view. Handy too having a fridge in the room so that we could stock up on drinks and snacks. There are plenty of shops close by if you want to buy drinks/water etc. The pool was small but it was always possible to get a lounger at any time of the day, so much nicer than those places where people are reserving them from dawn!

The staff are all very friendly and helpful. I noticed other reviewers mentioned the cleaning staff knocking at the door early in the morning. We never experienced this. In fact one day we were a bit later leaving the room and I apologised to the lady cleaning on our floor for delaying her and she told me not to worry, she was happy to wait until we were ready.

My only negative would be that as the bar closes early at night and there is nowhere open nearby to buy water or soft drinks it would be handy to have a vending machine. However, the one night we ran short of drinks in our room the receptionist was happy to get us a bottle of water from the closed bar.

Room Tip: The higher floors have the best view.

We visited Malta this June and stayed at Il Palazzin for 4 nights. The hotel is ok if you don't expect too much and are just there for sleeping. It's not far from the coast, so you can walk there within 5 minutes. Also many restaurants are nearby. The pool looked nice, but it was still a bit too cold in June to use it. For us this didn't matter, as we were busy exploring the island and its rich culturell heritage during the days.
Breakfast is also ok if you don't expect too much but the staff was not always attentive and sometimes things were missing in the buffet and on the tables.
Wifi is only for free at the lobby area, but often bad connection and very slow.

Nice room but too many issues to ignore. Reception staff were generally polite and helpful, general manager booked wrong excursion for us and then didn't really apologise. Wifi was not good especially as had to pay to access from the room. Food was good but limited variety at breakfast. Housekeeping were pushy and even rang the room to ask when we were leaving for the day so that they could clean.

Positives were a nice but small pool with available sun beds. Good location with easy access to buses, restaurants and the promenade. Fine if you are just looking for a place to sleep at night!

Room Tip: Sea view is an added bonus.
