A Different Set-up. A Pleasant Stay. Nice Rooms. Convenient Location.
4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 11 Sept 2018
You read about it having 30 some rooms, but you drive up to a building that clearly has many, many more. The reason is the conference center is on the main floor, the first and second floors are the Inn and the top several floors are one of UMass' dorms. The students have a different entrance and are not allowed to hang in the lobby, so the only time you see them is at the Campus Shuttle Bus stop in front of the building. We were on the first floor, so had a nice patio overlooking the canal behind the building. As the dorm rooms start on the third floor, I would suggest requesting a room on the first floor as far from the lobby as possible as voices do reverberate from the lobby down the hall. That said, it was quiet enough. The room was quite large and very clean. Parking is free. The TV has kind of a tinny sound. The breakfast is truly a continental breakfast - toast, yogurt, orange juice, coffee. The staff were all quite friendly, welcoming and helpful. For the price, the stay was pleasant and a good value. We were in town to see the National Historical Park. So, the location was perfect - an easy 10 minute walk. There were plenty of restaurants along the way. The neighborhood is very diverse, probably a working class area, no homeless on the streets.

Stayed here for a wedding in town. Reserved connecting rooms, did not get connecting rooms. Had to shuttle clothing and young children between two rooms, and change sleeping arrangements because you can’t put 2 young kids in their own room.

They came up to apologize and say they would take a % off my bill, and when I checked out they only took it off one of my rooms. Add that to the ants and smoky smell and I was just ready to leave. Would stay in a Townhome Suites or something a few miles away next time.

The Internet and AC work well, and pillows were nice..

No curb appeal, you drive in past government buildings and parking garages but the hotel is located well off the streets. When you go out the backdoor of the hotel you are located right on the canals!
Giant "Inn" rooms, they could fit 3 queen beds in their "Inn" rooms.
Keurig coffee maker & powdered Coffee Mate creamer?
Very limited vending.
Store bought bagels for breakfast?
Free parking in the garage, thats a big perk in Boston.
$100 room within one hour of Boston is a great price.
Partial remodel? see pics.

Room tip: Ask for a view of the canal

We stayed here for one night while at the Lowell Music Series. Nice simple clean room, large bed. Perfect for a flop after a busy day. Good location for central Lowell.
Only downside is it’s badly signposted and like many others we had a good tour of Lowell before mastering getting to it.
Breakfast is simple, beverages, toasted bagels, pastries, yogurt and fruit. They replenished when I requested.
No complaints, it was good value.

Our initial room had a toilet that wouldn't flush completely and the bathroom outlet didn't work. The maintenance guy came and used a "snake" to clear the toilet and left an orange extension cord to makeup for the outlet! We didn't accept that so we asked if we could be switched to a different room. They did so without hesitation but the new room had a very slow draining sink. The maintenance guy came back up and cleared it quickly. The corners of the bathroom could have been scrubbed a bit more but the rest of the stay was good. The breakfast bar could have been a little better (coffee, tea, juice, breakfast bars, muffins, bagels and fruit) but it was okay. They kept fruit infused water and coffee/tea by the front desk and the workers were very friendly.

This place needs a total update. The carpets, paint, furniture all must be 20 years old. I can say it’s clean but does not feel warm and welcoming. Everything needs an overhaul. Ironically they have robes in the room. If you are looking for the absolute basics at an affordable price, you’ll get that, but I can’t say I’ll be coming back. Only reason I tried it is because the town was full from a Science convention and everything was booked. Underwhelmed.
