I stayed here for 2 nights on a business trip. The hotel is well-appointed, and I had a great room in the West Tower on the 10th floor overlooking the river, the science museum, and Mass General. Everything worked, including wi-fi, and the bed was very comfortable. Room service dinner was quite good, and breakfast and lunch at the business meeting were very good, way above what one might expect at such a meeting. I have no idea what this place costs, as it was pre-paid for me, but I believe it is sky-high.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor facing the river - nice view.

We had a most enjoyable visit at The Royal Sonesta from September 14th through the 16th. Although we have tried other hotels in the Cambridge/Boston area around the same price point, this is by far our favorite. From the moment you check in with the friendly and professional front desk employee, you will feel welcomed!
The hotel vibe is upscale and contemporary and the redecorated rooms follow suite. Although not particularly large, our queen sized room was comfortable and modern and offered a very restful night’s sleep with attractive bedding and a mattress that provided the perfect amount of firmness and support. We especially enjoyed our room’s views of the Charles River and the Boston skyline. The hall corridors were blessedly quiet in contrast to the hustle and bustle of the hotel lobby which is a happening place with meetings, parties and receptions going on. We did not have the opportunity to dine at the hotel, except for grabbing a drink at the outside bar and sharing an excellent appetizer from Restaurant Dante -large and luscious shrimp served with an excellent cocktail sauce. I would certainly plan on having a meal here on a future trip.
A few things that sets the Sonesta apart from other chains are the convenient location, directly across the street from the Cambridgeside Mall and within walking distance of the Museum of Science and the visually appealing original contemporary art covering the hotel walls. And the lobby Starbucks come in handy for that extra needed jolt of coffee.
If you are looking for an upscale place to stay, try the Royal Sonesta with all its amenities and friendly staff! And, make sure to join the Sonesta Travel Pass club which offers free nights’ stays at a variety of connected hotels around the world after so many nights’ stays. In addition, (at least at The Royal Sonesta Boston) members are invited to a daily happy hour wine reception in the lobby on week days.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the Charles River & the Boston skyline. Price may be between mid-range and luxury.

Spent two night at the Royal Sonesta Hotel on a Holiday Vacations Tour. The hotel was clean, but very cold and uninviting. Everything in the lobby was of a stainless steel, gray, silver décor with no greenery to warm up the atmosphere. The room was clean but we essentially had NO view. From our room window our view consisted of a flat roof with equipment on it and in the distance a bit of the Charles River. The room had many push buttons to control lighting and were difficult to work. One good thing about the lighting were small led lights that automatically cam on whenever you got out of bed, so you could see where you were walking. The bathroom was painted in a chocolate color, which dark and uninviting. Our sink dripped the entire time we were there that indicated the hotel does not put a high priority on repairing faulty equipment. It took us the two nights stay just to get the tv channels to work properly. The bed seemed extremely low to the floor, buy was comfortable. However, there seemed to be horizontal strips of padding on the bed. The ultra modern look is not appealing in a hotel of this price range. I would not recommend this hotel and would never again stay in a hotel such as this.

Room Tip: View the room before accepting it.

Location is fantastic, easy to commute everywhere. The lobby is shinny, the rooms are great, large and clean. Staff is very helpful and polite. It also has a great indoor pool to enjoy, so do not forget your swimsuit.

The staff was really nice, they answered all the question we had and provided an excellent experience during our stay. The room was recently renovated and very clean. Also, the location is amazing with a big mall across the street.

Room Tip: Parking is cheaper in the mall across the street from the hotel than in the hotel
