From the moment I arrived David the host created an amazing first impression that carried on until we said our Goodbyes some 4 days later. The room was really well appointed, quiet and gave me a chance to unwind after a day of education. Really conveniently located with a nice 10 minute stroll to Harvard Square and transport options to Boston.

Spent three nights during my grad school reunion in the Scholar room. Very friendly and helpful owner, clean and charming room (wonderful selection of old books to peruse), and excellent location -- walk anywhere in Harvard or Central Square in 10-15 minutes. Quite private and quiet. Feels like staying in someone's very nice spare room. Only cons were (1) very expensive for what you get (though this is a criticism I'd levy at all accommodations in Cambridge) and (2) no daily housekeeping.

This B and B is conveniently located to Harvard Square and the T, and yet on a quiet residential street. The rooms are beautifully decorated and soothing. Breakfast arrives on a tray in the morning--the offerings are limited but you can have as much as you want. David was extremely personable and accommodating.

Position of B&B convenient. Room comfortable.
Service totally non existent. After our first night, we came back to find the beds not made, bathrooms not cleaned, trash cans not emptied out. In fact there were no cleaners at all. However, If you stay 6 days or more then on 6th day your room will be 'freshened up'. Have you ever??? I have never heard of a B & B with no service.
Even more disturbing was our bathroom cabinet with used toiletries from previous guests- half bottles of shampoo, creams, lotions and even half a box of tampons. David was proud of this. Most unprofessional and unhygienic.
During our 2 night stay we tried to contact David but to no avail.
After our initial meeting when we arrived, we never saw anyone connected to this B&B again.

We had such a great experience at the Parkside. David was an amazing host - I spoke with him by phone and email several times in advance of our visit and he could not have been more helpful. He went out of his way to make our stay easier, and was an incredibly gracious host. We stayed in the Cambridge room, which was great! When you walk in, there is a lovely breakfast nook (surrounded by bookshelves), where we had our breakfast each morning. it was delivered via dumbwaiter, which was between the nook and the bedroom, and across from the bathroom. Everything was spotlessly clean, and although the bathroom wasn't huge, it was more than big enough for us. There are not toiletries provided, but there is a cache of supplies other guests have left, and we were close walking distance to stores and pharmacies if we needed anything. Closet and shelf space is very large, and the bed is a nice king (one of the issues about which David was so kind was replacing the feather comforter and pillows due to our allergies). The large windows let in light, a space heater provided extra warmth (which really wasn't needed, even on a cold Jan day), and there was also a desk for us to do a bit of work, and a sofa to sit and read. It felt large, light and airy. We were right next to the Cambridge Public Library, and only a short walk from Harvard Square and the T (on David's recommendation, we took the T to and from the airport and it was amazingly easy and quick - and free when boarded at the airport). Yes, breakfast is light, but that worked out perfectly for us. Each morning as we were getting ready, we had an early meal of english muffins, juice and coffee, and then a later brunch/lunch to get us through til dinner. If we had wanted, there was a fridge in the room and we could have easily brought fruit or snacks. David provides lots of little touches like glasses, corkscrew, sewing kit, iron, blowdryer, lint brush, umbrellas, etc... It is really a perfect location if you're visiting Harvard, but honestly, with the T so close, it is a great location for anywhere you are going in Cambridge/Boston. I would have liked to see it in the summer, but even in winter, it was a really nice place to spend a weekend. Would definitely return!
