“if you hanker after old style charm and comfort - look no further 'Kate's Cottage' is the place for you”
Reviewed 6 October 2018 for a stay in September 2018

What a charming old style cottage - with all conveniences.
Michelle (owner) is exceptional in her attention - so friendly - and helpful but always respectful of your privacy.
We had a little issue with the TV and Enda (Michelle's) son immediately sorted out this problem. What a fine young man. Thank you Enda!!

“Kate's Cottage - a delightful jewel in the crown of wild Donegal”

My wife and I had the real pleasure to stay at Kate's Cottage for 10 nights in August 2018.
The cottage is presented in authentic rustic and cosy Donegal style. It's really lovely. It has a warm multi-fuel stove with logs and coal, together with oil-fired central heating .....for all seasons.
The cottage is equipped with all modern necessities and is located in a most beautiful position. It enjoys wonderful views of cliffs and sea, together with inland views of the Donegal hills. (Alas, the weather during our stay was not ideal for taking wonderful photographs, so regrettably, on this occasion, I have none to share.)
A 1 minute walk will take you to Towny pier where you can fish, look for wild-life and enjoy more views.
The cottage is located only a 15 minute gentle walk from the centre of Kilcar where there are four lovely pubs. There are two small supermarkets together with a take-away food shop. Of course, there is also a Donegal Tweed Mill where you can watch tweed being made, by hand, on the looms and purchase goods in the Mill's shop. There's also a hair dressers and a very good taxi-service, too.
The cottage is located beside Donegal's famous Wild Atlantic Way and 10 minutes walk in the other direction will take you to Muckross where there is a safe natural beach and small harbour. You can sometimes see Bottlenose Dolphins in the area.
There are lots of lovely places to visit nearby. During our stay, Cunard's Queen Elizabeth cruise ship docked at nearby Killybegs. The ship dwarfed the town and the 2000, or more, passengers doubled the population of the local area. There was quite a buzz.
If you are ever fortunate to stay at Kate's Cottage, you will meet Michelle, your host, who together with her family, cannot do enough to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. Michelle lives next-door but gives you so much privacy.
All in all, a highly recommended accommodation in a truly wonderful place. We really hope to return next year with the rest of the family!
We have no hesitation in awarding this excellent cottage, and wonderful host, a full five stars!
Very many thanks Michelle.

“Charming Cottage, Very Comfortable”

Delightful, roomy cottage with pretty much everything you might need to feel thoroughly modern yet back in time. The cottage is in a storybook-like setting with views of the mountains and sea. It's a short drive (or healthy walk) into town of Kicar and perfect location for day trips throughout beautiful Co. Donegal area. Host lives next door and makes herself available, if needed, yet mindful of your privacy. Lovely experience.
