“Causy, beautiful gem near Avignon”
Reviewed 25 December 2017 for a stay in July 2017

My wife and I have stayed at many rental apartments and houses across Europe, but none came close to our experience at the Willow Tree (our stay was in July-August 2017 - sorry we're writing this so late!).

The location is perfect, making virtually everything to see in Provence (including beautiful and full of life Avignon, very close) 60 minutes away or less by car. The nearby small town of Le Thor (2 minute drive?) has all the shops you need, with a number of decent restaurants and take-outs.

The apartment is simply perfect, with everything you might need.It offers lots of space and is very comfortable. The rooms and bathrooms are impeccable. The kitchen is very well equipped and located at the center of it all. The grounds are very nice and sufficiently large for kids to play. The pool is fantastic and a few feet from the patio door. We especially enjoyed having breakfast on the terrace, right outside the living room/patio door. Being in the countryside, the surroundings were very quiet. The apartment is part of the hosts' home (ground level), but you wouldn't realize it as it has its own entrance (including its own gate to the property), its own terrace on the side of the house, in addition to the one near the pool.

Our hosts Audrey and Peter were warm and charming, yet very discreet. So were their two sons, who were a pleasure to have around, but also very respectful of our tranquility. Audrey and Peter were always there if we had any questions or missing something. They were also very pleasant to chat and share a drink with (beer in the pool under 40 degrees ... aaaaaaaahhhhhh! :-) ).

We could not recommend more and are hoping to visit again!

We have just returned from two of the most wonderful weeks in Provence.

This was a first for everyone concerned. It was the first ever letting of The Willow Tree as an apartment by the owners and it was the first time we have ever rented a property where the owners were living on site.

Having booked we were not quite sure how this would work for us as we tend to like to come and go as we please. Audrey, Peter, the two boys – Troy and Ryan – and Jodie, their Labrador, made us feel really part of the family from the outset. In fact they went out of their way to make sure we had the best possible holiday.

The location is ideal; it's quiet and peaceful but only a 5 minute drive through the lanes to the local supermarket and the town of Le Thor. It's also a great base for exploring the villages, towns and markets of Provence.

This really is a lovely apartment and clearly a lot of thought has gone in to the design, décor and furnishings. In fact, all the rooms in The Willow Tree are furnished and equipped to a very good standard and there's just about everything you are likely to need, including Sky, should you feel the need to follow what's happening back home.

The main area consists of an open plan kitchen, dining area and lounge, which leads out on to the main terrace, gardens and the pool area. The garden and pool area really do make this a special and relaxing setting, especially early evening. Even the red squirrels joined us for a pool side lunch time drink.

The pool was ideal for cooling down when you got too hot, which was most of the time, but that said with temperatures in the mid 30s it was just like getting in to a warm but cooling bath.

As for the rest of the apartment, couldn't and wouldn't fault a thing. Only the two of us but the main bedroom was spacious with a really comfortable bed and a good sized en suite shower room and loo. The second was more compact but again it has the advantage of an en-suite shower room and loo.

Having its own separate entrance and parking was a big plus for us as we could come and go without disturbing the 'neighbours'. The secure car parking leads you through to your own private walled patio and the entrance to the apartment. This whole area is a real plus when you just want your own space. It is also a lovely spot any time of the day, whether it's for breakfast, a lunch time or even an early evening BBQ and it's a real sun trap later in the afternoon. Failing that we just enjoyed the last rays of the day with a glass of wine or a beer.

The Willow Tree is a place you need to know about but never overly want to recommend in fear it becomes hard to secure future reservations!

Would definitely recommend and return to, that's if we can get in!

“Stunning”
Reviewed 17 June 2015 for a stay in May 2015

Six adults two kids three generations, every one of us loved it. The kids loved the pool and huge garden, the oldies loved sitting around the pool and drinking wine on the terrace overlooking the pool and garden and we loved doing all of those things. The whole villa is beautifully maintained with plenty of room for everyone. When we went out for the day we actually looked forward to going back to the villa. If it was up to the kids we would never have left. A great place and a thoroughly enjoyable holiday. We all said we would love to come back one day especially now we can get the train direct to Avignon.

“A fabulous fortnight”
Reviewed 2 January 2015 for a stay in August 2014

The Apple Orchard was just right for our large family gathering. During the days, the children spent hours in the heated pool and ran wild in the large garden. In the evenings we had some great BBQ's on the large balcony which was conveniently sited next to the well equipped kitchen.

It was a little way out of Avignon but the local town ticked most the boxes.

“Beautiful house, great location, perfect for families, kids or groups of friends.”
Reviewed 10 November 2014 for a stay in June 2014

We stayed at the Apple Orchard in June 2014 with our extended family from Australia and the UK. I can't recommend this place highly enough - the house is spacious, bright and clean, with large bedrooms and bathrooms and plenty of spaces for eating and relaxing, both inside and out on the terraces. The kitchen is very well equipped for cooking for big groups. There is a large garden with lots of shade and the pool area is fantastic. The pool is heated (we swam all day every day in early June) and fully fenced which was great as we had small children aged 3 and 1 with us. We also rented the apartment which was very handy for us, especially the use of the extra kitchen and for keeping the kids away from those who wanted to sleep in! The location is perfect, on a quiet road but an easy drive to lots of beautiful towns and markets such as Gordes, Menerbes, St Remy. Audrey was very helpful and responsive, and always available to respond to our questions. Some of our family members have already booked to return next year.
