What a find on our last night in France! We were beginning to despair that the wonderful traditional service and food of French restaurants had been swallowed up by the increasing trend for Bistro style, character lacking restaurants serving food we could easily find in any number of establishments nearer to home, and then we found just what we had been searching for! Hooray for Le Dagobert! An old traditional hotel of slightly faded grandeur is home to a beautiful dining room with linen table clothes and napkins, chandelier lighting and oozing character. The food was the best we have had, delighted to see frogs legs, delicious, and snails on the menu, I also had melt in the mouth beef, my husband had succulent pigeon. The service was spot on, the presentation first class. Thank you Dagobert, you have restored our faith in French cuisine and bee the culinary highlight of our holiday.

Don't be put off by the outward appearance of this hotel!
The meal we had there was beautifully presented and very tasty!
We were surprised and impressed by the choice of vegetables with the main courses-unusual for France!

Thank Jennifer G

We ate at Le Dagobert on the recommendation of our hosts whilst staying in a chambre d'hôte nearby. This is a typical old French hotel-restaurant with an unprepossessing exterior but an excellent dining room. M. Sorin, the owner, is the chef and Mme. Sorin oversees the dining room. Although there are other menus, the €18 menu du jour is great value with choices of four starters and main courses, followed by cheese or dessert. Food is cooked to order, of a very high quality and excellently presented. There is an extensive wine list and also local Saumur white and red wine available in carafes. M. Sorin takes great pride in his cooking and at the end of the evening comes around to talk to diners about the dishes they have eaten. This restaurant was an excellent recommendation.
