The Muhu Museum is an interesting place to get to know the history of the island. Here you can find out more about old architecture, Muhu national costumes, village school and blacksmith's workshop and other Muhu history. There are also art exhibitions and a museum shop.

If you are planning to visit Muhu and Saaremaa please add Koguva Village to your list. You would really enjoy the local nature, culture and you may have a general overview about life style in locality during last few centuries and important historical moments. I would recommend to visit this village to all my friends who travelling to Estonia.

While giving a lot of new things to realize of the life in the not so distant past, tje visit left some ideas of improvement.

As there are people also living in the area, the directions to some parta of museum could be clearer tp avoid stumbling into private areas.

Probably the greatest charm of Koguva is the fact that it is not just a museum frozen in time - it is actually a place where people still live and continue their traditions. Several buildings, including a large farmhouse compound where a famous Estonian writer lived, have been transformed into an open-air museum where you are free to explore the interior, farming tools, implements, furniture etc. You can also visit the old village school and the fishing harbour a short walk to the west of the village.

Most of all, we enjoyed the extremely quiet, pleasant atmospehere. There were almost no tourists and the lady in charge of the ticket office made us feel very welcome with a warm welcome and interesting explanations.

Well worth a short detour if you are driving to Saaremaa. It really is a wonderful place to visit and enjoy the serene countryside.
