Our family stayed in the Aialik cabin for 2 nights under a canopy of towering trees. The setting is very quiet, lovely and truly serene. The cabin was tidy, well-stocked and was exactly what we needed for our stay in Seward for a family of 4. The kids particularly enjoyed the personalized welcome sign on the cabin - it's a very cozy family accommodation. If you are expecting a 5 star luxury experience, this might not be for you. If you want charm, a quiet location and a cozy place to stay, this is it. The upstairs loft is exactly as described on the website - it's a loft accessible by ladder and has limited headroom. The kids thought it was fun and felt like a "fort" to them. I'm not sure whether it would be ideal for 2 adults given the low headroom, but as a family with two kids, it was great. Notably, the shower was really good, with plenty of hot water (a luxury in Alaska). If we wanted an impersonal "motel" room, there are options in Seward that would deliver. We wanted a cozy, authentic "Alaskan" experience in Seward and our cabin at Serenity by the Sea was perfect. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Our trip to Seward came after a week of camping and the Exit Glacier Cabin was the Perfect Place! It was clean and well stocked, close to Resurrection Bay and a great hike called Tonsina Trail. We will be back!

We stayed in the Bear Glacier in June 2017.
From beginning to end our stay was perfect.
Milanes Serenity by the Sea Cabins is a perfect way to experience the beauty of Seward Alaska.
Check in and check out was super easy and the family that owns the property was very accommodating and friendly. Out cabin was clean and very comfortable for the three us during a weeks stay.
If you want to capture the true beauty of Alaska, then skip the hotels in town and stay in a rustic cabin on Lowell Point where you are a short walk away from the beaches and trails to Tonsina Point.

We needed a place to stay when i decided to stay extra days on our trip to Alaska. The hotel we booked, the good place we gave a raving 5 star review too, was booked. They were able to find us "this place"! The place was a little cabin in the middle of the woods. The issue here is that it was not worth the $200 dollars we were charged. I could have stayed any place else in Seward for less with a better view and amenities than this place.
I actually feel taken advantage of and that alone would be a reason to not go to this place. Let's add in the lack of an adequate heating system (it rained and was cold at night) and that the bed was upstair in a loft and you could not raise your head without hitting it. If this place was $80 bucks a night then i could understand it. But at $200 its a big rip off!

Room Tip: Don't bother...

Seward_Cabins, General Manager at Millane's Serenity by the Sea Cabins, responded to this reviewResponded 7 June 2017

Hello Rick C,

We (the Millane Family) appreciate the opinions shared by our guests and do our best to take the feedback given to improve our offerings.

Our website has extensive information and images and we honestly try hard to be sure folks know exactly what we're offering so they know our cabins are a good fit and meet the expectations for their stay. Our three cabins are indeed located under a canopy Sitka Spruce trees on Lowell Point, just a short five-minute walk from the beautiful beaches of Resurrection Bay. We specifically mention on our site that we are near, but not on the beach.

Our website also indicates the cabins are on the smaller side, and the cabin you chose to rent is the smallest and as listed, has a futon on the lower level and a full bed in the crawl in loft. The cabin is appointed with an apartment sized refrigerator, electric sauté pan, coffee maker, microwave, plates, bowls and utensils as well as a small television with a DVD player. There are also pots and pans to use with our communal outdoor grill which includes a propane burner for cooking side dishes. We also equip the cabin with shampoo, conditioner, body soap, coffee, tea, sugar, creamer, microwave popcorn and instant oatmeal. Under the futon there are extra sheets, blankets and pillows and in the cabinet, there are an array of movies and games.

The cabin does have an electric eco-heater on the wall which maintains the heat at 70 degrees and as indicated in the cabin folder an additional heater is available if needed. A phone call to the number listed in the cabin info or a knock on the manager’s door on property is a quick solution for any needs while staying with us.

Additionally, the booking system through our site clearly indicates our pricing is higher for one-night stays. Folks who opt to stay for two or more nights receive a lower rate and we are on the low competitive side for rates in our area.

We are very conscientious of how we present ourselves. We know it’s hard to plan from a distance and we do our best to be honest with what we’re offering and to provide clear information to our prospective renters. We did our best to provide you with detailed information and are sorry we did not meet your expectations.

If you’re a TripAdvisor community member reading this response and searching for a vacation rental we’d encourage you to visit our website. There you’ll find detail information regarding each of our cabins and our location. Additionally, you’ll find photos of Lowell Point, our property and Seward. Comparison shop through reviews, websites and by checking rates to be sure the property you’re renting meets your specific needs and if you have any questions, please don’t’ hesitate to contact us. And if you decide to stay with us, we’re just quick call or knock away and we’re happy to do whatever we can to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.

I am getting ready to leave Seward and this wonderful Aialik cabin at Millane's Serenity by the Sea. I spent 7 days in this beautiful place and never had to ask for a single thing from the owners. This cabin is stocked! I had plenty of items to make my stay everything I hoped for and more. The bed is so comfy that it's tough to leave in the morning. And the coffee is awesome. I don't know what kind it is but it was perfect to sip in the morning and wake up to the new day. The fridge is big enough for the week and it was nice to have a microwave for those times when I was too relaxed to head into town for food. They even had a wine opener which is often overlooked by places. The location is perfect, about 2 miles from downtown Seward. All of the fun activities are close by including sea kayaking, boat tours, hiking and of course shopping at the cool shops in town. The beach is literally around the corner and don't be surprised to see eagles, sea lions or otters on your walk. I will definitely be back! Thanks to the Millane family for making my stay perfect!

Room Tip: All of the cabins are charming. The owner gave me a tour so I can plan my next visit.
